Anwar al-Awlaki couldn't hide in Yemen. No doubt there a several dozen jerk offs wrapped in a flag, here stateside.Jack Mitchellnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3046628493283608233.post-77307128387639023062011-10-02T16:10:07.199-04:002011-10-02T16:10:07.199-04:00I believe that much of the derision heaped on the ...I believe that much of the derision heaped on the PC originates from its early years under Shriver and the Kennedy connection...young, brash, well monied, and idealistic beyond words. Also, the PC was the refuge in "too many" cases for draft dodgers......whether that accusation has any basis at all is doubtful.

If you go back to a previous post, you quoted that talk is much preferable to action (paraphrased to fit). I would use that as a metaphor for the PC and its value.

Moreover, I would suggest that the PC probably is a much better tool for "nation building" than the US military.....and infinitely more effective. Much if not most of the messes we get ourselves into in policing the world is a result of our intrusion into someones "home" and their resistance becomes evidence of their association with the "bad guys" we claim to eradicate in the name of peace.

To be sure, there are a small percentage of people in the world that "just need killin'" and we do the world a favor when we are asked to do so and we accomplish the task. However, I would submit that genuine affection and caring behavior gets a whole lot more positive result than bullets.

I will go so far as to posit that the PC is even far more efficacious in the achievement of peace and understanding in the world than is our "vaunted" State Department.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
