The solution can't be the unfair transfer of wealth to a different preferred class.<br /><br />The single-payer health care system suggestion is an important one--in the absence of a true open market, I'm for it as the safeguard against manipulation of rates and the pocketing of profits by non-value-adding insurers.<br /><br />The living wage idea has strong merits for all, especially the wealthy. We've learned the hard way that our system doesn't "trickle down" very effectively at all, but, rather, it "trickles up" inexorably. A living wage across the bottom will fatten profits at the top sure as shootin'.<br /><br />Protectionist trade policy can't work with an open border policy on the other side. It has to be both or neither. If we want free flow of labor, we have to ensure free flow of goods and capital.<br /><br />Most important of all, I would say, is the insistence on open-review paper balloting.
