I am really stepping out here, now trying to upload an audio file.
When you are flying into this or that airport the polite thing to do before entering traffic or contacting the local air traffic control folks is to listen to the recorded ATIS (Automatic Terminal Information Service) report on the weather and what is going on. When you check in with Approach Control where you are landing you report which ATIS you have listened to, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, X-Ray, Yankee, Zulu, or whichever. That way the Controller knows you have the latest information. The ATIS is a crisp report of information and provided in a strait forward manner.
This audio is from a couple of weeks ago at Alliance Airport, in Texas. Alliance is a big airport only a couple of miles south of Texas Motor Speedway and north of Fort Worth. There were NASCAR races ongoing at the Speedway.
Well, I couldn't attach the file, but it can be found here. Click on the eighth note to the left.
Hat tip to my buddy Jeff L.
