Making a joke about Governor Sarah Palin's 14 year-old daughter, Willow, seems like a new low.
As someone put it:
sometimes, schmucks like Letterman just cross the line. His ilk should be shunned by any man with any sense.... no matter what political view.Regards — Cliff
If this churlish ogre thinks jokes about "knocking up" a 14 yr old are funny- he's an even worse mess than previously suspected- and should be locked up. Letterman is a deranged slob- and his stale schtick's about as funny as a train wreck.
ReplyDeleteIf Sarah Palin is SO silly and irrelevant, why the obsession? Clearly the Left noted her appeal, and are out to eliminate the threat- it’s not like it’s not obvious.
And she’s been highly successful in life while ignoring the left-wing feminist model… this helps to explain the extra dose of venom in the attacks.
Go get em, Sarah- and don’t mind the press, nobody will be listening to them anymore after the pending Obamamania implosion-

First of all, the "slutty flight attendant" line isn't getting the attention it deserves. (That's the real misogynist bit as far as I'm concerned).
ReplyDeleteSecond of all, if you ask me, a politician making political appearances and then taking their publically-chronicled unwed-teenage-mother daughter to a Yankees game where you KNOW they're going to be on TV is the first person to be questioned about any inappropriate public attention. Calling foul that foul-mouthed TV wise guys are taking advantage of the lay-up comedy is disingenuous at best.
Ok, now I have to retract the whole thing... It wasn't Bristol at the game...
ReplyDeleteYup, from the yardarm. (And, I guess, me too for not catching the difference).
I still say it was the flight attendant bit that needs the attention.
Kad Barma is 99 and 44/100% right about the "flight attendant" comment. I am flying on Friday and I hope the flight attendants don't take it out on the passangers. It was worse than a tacky comment and should have drawn a strong rebuke.
ReplyDeleteMy only excuse was that I was trying to be brief in my post. Normally I am not.

Guys,
ReplyDeleteNot sure if anyone else had the misfortune of catching Ann Coulter on TV last night, but I had to do a double-take when she said this was a one-way thing and no one from the right ever made fun of Chelsea Clinton when she was First Daughter. Thanks to Google, I can now see that Rush Limbaugh called her "The White House Dog."
Not only a low blow at a brace-faced 13 year-old, but also not particularly witty!
best,

Bad taste is, unfortunately, almost a universal trait. Part of learning to showing grace is learning to stifle it.
ReplyDeleteAnd, all of us are selective in our condemnation, properly giving weight to this and that factor. It has taken me about ten years to get over Howie Carr suggesting execution by wood chipper. That seemed too far over the top for my taste.
