From an American-born grandson of Canadian citizens whose grandparents left Ireland after literally being chased out during 1870s religious violence, an American-born son of Iranian-Americans who left their home country amid rising religious violence in early 1979, and an American-born daughter of Cambodian-born parents who left their home nation by way of the PI and Thailand to escape the three a.m. door knocks from the guys in black suits in the late 1970s, we're all VERY glad to be here, despite what happened to those who paved the way..
