Whether Afghanistan

As we start the new year, the issue of Afghanistan should be looming large.

Here is one opinion.  The author, retired Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor, has written several books about national security.

I am not endorsing the views of Colonel Macgregor, but I do think they frame one side of a multi-sided discussion.

  1. I like this part:
When the budget ax falls, many inconvenient facts will come to light, unmasking the great deception that America confronted a serious military threat in the aftermath of Sept. 11, a deception promoted and fostered by politicians and ambitious generals who sought to gain from it. It will horrify and discourage Americans to learn we've bankrupted ourselves in a fight that always was analogous to clubbing baby seals.

Bankrupting America was a prime objective of ObL. Bush/Cheney have enough egg on their face to last several generations. Obama needs to figure out how his tenure will be viewed by historians, centuries from now.

Check out this documentary. (http://restrepothemovie.com/)It is politically neutral, for the most part. I did notice that maggot Ollie North's book caught the cameraman's eye.

  2. Listened to the 14 minute teaser and it is a compelling story.  I will be checking on the video, when I get home.  Thanks for the link.

I hadn't thought about LtCol Ollie North recently, but [deleted].
