Do As I Say, Not As I Do

I sure hope Chicago has some form of "School Choice", given this statement:
“Mary Ann, let me break the news to you.  My children are not in a public position,” he said, curtly.  “I am.   You’re asking me a value statement and not a policy.  … No, no, you have to appreciate this.  My children are not an instrument of me being mayor.   My children are my children, and that may be news to you, and that may be new to you, Mary Ann, but you have to understand that I’m making this decision as a father.”
So, does he or doesn't he?

Incidentally, that would be Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago.

It was all reported by TV Reporter Mary Ann Ahern, of WMAQ Channel 5 in Chicago.

Hat tip to the Instapundit.

  1. Both my daughters went to SJA. Is there a problem with that? No.

I also don't believe in school vouchers because I support public education. It is our choice to make the sacrifice and bear the cost of SJA tuition.

My oldest graduated from LHS. The youngest starts at LHS in September. We will get the value of our tax dollars, in more ways than one.

Trying to trap the mayor of Chicago with this is bogus.

I don't think it is the same.  You are a resident, but not the Mayor or the Manager.  What such an official does says something about how he or she sees the state of the local school system.  It also says something, but not as much, IMHO, about the Mayor's commitment to the community.  The President not so much.  He is in DC because that is where the work is.  He has no choice.  Besides, as the article says, he holds his cool, whereas "Dead Fish" doesn't.
