From The Manchester Guardian we have a report on a study by NASA affiliated scientists at Penn State. The study says that aliens (extraterrestrials) coming across our planet might destroy it based upon what we have done to our own home world, as a way of protecting life forms from other areas. They recommend we hide:
To bolster humanity's chances of survival, the researchers call for caution in sending signals into space, and in particular warn against broadcasting information about our biological make-up, which could be used to manufacture weapons that target humans. Instead, any contact with ETs should be limited to mathematical discourse "until we have a better idea of the type of ETI we are dealing with."I think that perhaps a bigger threat is drowning in red ink from funding too many "scientific" studies. On the other hand, I would like to see a real space program out of NASA. I don't think this is going to help that cause.
