I would suggest that almost anyone who has risen to a position of prominence in an organization or group will invariably display elements of narcissism. Whether those traits are normal healthy ones or are destructive is quite situational and conditional. As one psychiatrist observed, even psychotics have lucid moments.
ReplyDeleteCertainly, Americans want their President to be, well, "Presidential" and a first year psychology student can easily identify narcissistic behaviors in every President that ever was. In the military, I would suggest that most general officers are narcissistic....a few to the extreme and when that occurs, they become ineffective as leaders.
