Speaking of Political Parties

This is only for older folks, as it represents an era long past, the 1960s and the 1970s, and the time of the 68ers.

The Manchester Guardian is reporting that a member of the West German political organization, the Red Army Faction (also known as the Baader-Meinhof Gang), also spent time as an informant for the GDR (East German) Secret Police, the Stasi.  Go figure.  It turns out his thinking was evolving.

A First Amendment warning—he is now in a West German jail for Holocaust denial.

A point of order Cliff, The Fatherland has been once again reunited, there is no West Germany, aka FRG.

Interesting "warning" on the First Amendment. The Germans don't take kindly to Holocaust deniers, and yet, in certain quarters, not only do they admit to it, but do so with great pride. So, I am thinking that it all depends on the lie and the politics of the moment as to whether a lie is an imprisonable offense. There are lies, and then there are damned lies.

Back then it wasn't, and parts are still in Russian and Polish hands, but I sincerely hope the are no moves afoot to correct that in the next few centuries.

As a bonus, here is a movie review on The Baader Meinhof Complex.
