Who IS Anders Behring Breivik

As someone recently said, the two things the media wants you to know is that President Obama and Anders Behring Breivik are Christians.  The former is.  The latter not so much.  Nor is he a Zionist, per this report from Cathy Young, writing at Reason Magazine.

Meanwhile, at Gates of Vienna, a "notorious" blog out of some place in Virginia, is a refutation of the idea that Anders Behring Breivik is a Christian.

Mr Breivik is against mass immigration by Muslims and against Feminism.  He wants to return to the Middle Ages.  He doesn't have empathy for those he opposes.  He is a mass murderer.

He is neither a Zionist nor a Christian.

Hat tip in part to the Instapundit.

If only we could more easily see that "radical Islamism" isn't Islam, as well. These are people who first and foremost want to hurt other people. They're neither Christians nor Muslims. The polygamist from Texas they just convicted of child abuse isn't a Mormon Christian, either.

I agree whole heartedly with Kad. We love sweeping generalities, particularly when they meet our personal prejudices. The current "batch of terrorists" are coincidentally Muslim, but that hardly transforms into "all Muslims are terrorist" or "all Muslims hate _______" Oh some Muslims just MIGHT feel some anger and perhaps even hatred when subjected to the self righteous hatred of another group. I think I would quickly be infused with "hatred" is my neighborhood and community vehemently rejected me as a normal part of the group.

As Christians, we tend to forget the absolute horrors inflicted on other innocents....all in the name of the Church. We also tend to dismiss that even wrapped in our Christian robes, we are quite often anything BUT Christian in our behavior and demeanor. But that's okay right? Christians can walk the line and hop on either side of it.....that is an option available to us. For anyone else.....unforgivable.

Labels are a poor indicator of what is in the package. The Texas polygamist is not a Christian by any scriptural measurement. And it is very doubtful that a vast majority of Americans can truly claim to BE Christian with their once a week visit to a local church and paying the modern day equivalent for indulgences. I watched a family in a van, all dressed to the nines in their Sunday go to meetin' clothes, and as the father blindly pulled out of the church parking lot cutting off an oncoming car such that the guy had to slam on his brakes and lay on the horn...the father casually rolled down his window and gave the frightened driver the finger. Oh wait....its okay....he's a Christian.

My personal view is, Obama is too much like the guy leaving the church with his family in the van to be a Christian.

But then...all of God's chillun got sins......
