Duty to Die

I quote Professor Ann Althouse's blog post in full.
Romanticizing suicide. [AND: Murder!]
In the NYT.

Expect more propaganda of this kind, my friends, because in the future, it is hoped, you will be your own death panel.
In Germany it was two decades between the publication of Life Unworthy of Life in 1920 and the first deaths of Germans under Action T4, in September 1939.  The T4 Program wasn't about Jews and Gypsies and Slavs.  It was about those Germans who needed help to exist, due to physical or mental handicaps.  Two decades.  Then the Asylums and the homes were emptied, because (1) they were too expensive and (2) space was needed for wounded warriors (It was WWII and also some of the wounded were also euthanized) and (3) because such crippledness was not worthy of a great Aryan nation.

It could happen again, in our nation, and it could be that the clock started in 2010 and will run down to 2039.  By then will I be one of those "worthless eaters"?

We need to be concerned about the moral drift.

  1. WAIT!!! Wasn't it only a year or so ago that Sarah Palin was assailed for her "stupidity" and her "lack of sophistication" in how Federal government works...ie...checks and balances and all those other myths???? Wasn't it Sarah Palin who saw the guts of Obamacare for what it was...a rationing of health care for different "classes" of people...to be defined. And wasn't it Sarah Palin who first used the phrase "death panels" and was then made fun of by all the intellectual elite...left and right.....?????

And now folks are talking about "moral drift" as if it was a just discovered phenomenon? We are being "led" by an acute narcissist with no discernible, documented past but a well documented socialist agenda that will ultimate lead to some sort of "cleansing" of what is left of American society......and we are talking about "moral drift???"

We've drifted. Morality is relative to time, place, and the "kinds" of participants. Morality is what the loudest voices SAY it is at any given moment.

There are not going to be definable Death Panels in the future....that would be too easy....too draconian.....too "uncivil." Instead, we are going to institute "studies" and "research" and "metrics" and "cost benefit measure" that will...in the end.....quietly...peacefully....lead to the elimination of those whose value to the greater society has eroded, making them, inconsequential.....irrelevant....excess. It will be their duty to die.....one that can occur quickly or slowly and painfully.....a HUMANE choice provided them...in view of their long and faithful service.

The Age of Soylent Green is just around the corner......already today the market for body parts is a raging business and it can't be much longer before those body parts that have been "maintained" by Medicare and Medicaid money will be "government property" and thus property to be disposed of as the government sees fit.....another "revenue stream."

As you gaze around you today....who cares???? Are there any loud protests? Even some quiet ones? No. In fact, the Planned Parenthood mindset is clamoring to get on with legalizing once and for all the timely disposal of lives that are....well....not really lives because they are not "self aware" and besides....an inconvenient burden. When we kill children in their beds by making them "not really human".....we are only a moment away from disposing of anyone else we find.....unsuitable.
