I am not sure I really understand this riff. Is there anyone who says grace like Charlie Anderson (the movie Shenandoah)?
Lord, we cleared this land. We plowed it, sowed it, and harvest it. We cook the harvest. It wouldn't be here and we wouldn't be eating it if we hadn't done it all ourselves. We worked dog-bone hard for every crumb and morsel, but we thank you Lord just the same for the food we're about to eat, amen.On You Tube.
This fact that an economy is a puzzle of many pieces does not dictate one type of Government imposed system or another. It does mean we all should share in the burdens and we should all be respectful in our use of resources.
I am not sure where Professor Warren and President Obama are going here.

Charlie sounds here just like the Republican party line on being a 1-percenter. I think there's a lot of channeling going on all over the place, and the opposing scripts are getting extremely tiresome, especially for those of us who are actually working dog-bone hard for every crumb and morsel. Some appreciate the help they get along the way, and others just pull the ladder up after themselves. Just because people you don't like said it, doesn't mean it isn't true.
ReplyDeleteTruth is a funny thing....it comes in so many degrees and flavors. Obama is counting on it and Sacajawarren believes it with all her Marxist heart.
ReplyDeleteMy grandfather worked a two hundred acre wheat farm in eastern Washington state. He got that farm for a small fee paid to the Federal government which was part of a deal with the Northern Pacific Railway. Of course, the land that the NP was "given" by the government was TAKEN from the Indians.....but that is another story.
He raised wheat...he worked the land 24/7 all year long. You can argue until the moon turns green that he didn't clear that land, plant the wheat, harvest it, get it to market "by himself".....others "helped" him. You can make that argument...and you can call it truth...but the truth is....if he didn't do it.....there would be no wheat farm.....and I can assure you that the government wasn't and will never be in the operational farm business.
Why you might ask. Well...the people who would do it don't have a clue how to do it. They are white collar petty bureaucrats who have soft skin on the palms of their hands. Recall that the infamous Cottontail Ranch in Nevada was seize by the Federal government for non-payment of taxes. According to Federal law, the government was obliged to operate it in its original form. Within a few years, the Ranch was bankrupt. Now, if a group of folks can't make money selling whiskey and operating a whorehouse, how on earth can you possibly think that they can even assist someone in doing something more complex?
Obama is appealing to class and would be delighted if he could touch off a class war by convincing folks that a small percentage of people who provide all or most of the goods and services that they consume are really trying to get over on them. Yeah...that will work to make America stronger.
