The Lance Armstrong imbroglio continues and the fact that the problem was going to "arbitration" seems strange to me. One arbitrates labor disputes, but not fact. Over at the
Althouse Blog there was this prescient comment:
As far as Armstrong goes...if you strip him of his TDF medals, you need to award him some Noble Prizes in chemistry 'cause they never proved it.

What has always amazed me about this is that it is simply the outcome of pathological envy on the part of a few. One wonders about the snitch who committed biker suicide in order to kill Armstrong. If I didn't suspect otherwise, I would almost cast it as an extreme homosexual fallout.
ReplyDeleteArmstrong said it best, "When it is all said and done, I still crossed the finish line first." I would suggest that in competition, that may be the dominant factor. One has to be completely foolish to believe that every one of the pack peddling their buns off was completely devoid of "performance enhancers."
People hate icons....particularly in America. It provides some sort of perverse satisfaction to topple someone at the top.....of anything. We seem only to feel "adequate" if we can ensure that someone else doesn't best us in any way. I am rather certain that this bleeds over into the political arena as well.
Pretty sad when the only way one can rise up is to tear someone else down.
No, some people hate icons. The rest of us love them. We look up to them.
