"I love being home, in this place where Ann and I were raised, where but the both of us were born," Romney said after introducing his wife, fellow Michigan native Ann. "No one's ever asked to see my birth certificate. They know that this is the place where we were born and raised."TPM talks about it..
I thought it was funny.
Althouse view.
InstaPundit view.
But, the real "Birther" issue has to do with a Senate candidate in Texas, Ted Cruz—born in Canada, but of an American Mother. Professor Althouse opined that he might not meet the criteria for President, and then corrected herself.

I immediately received an email from Obama's campaign and saw blogs/facebook react. Nothing on local mediaon my apps, but CBS defending Romney.
ReplyDeleteObama has used it as a joke, so fair game to use it in that capacity.
Why doesn't the FCC have a requirement to prove being a natural born citizen when you file as a canadidate?
When you run for local office, you just pull papers and collect signatures. Does anyone ask for citizenship?
It was funny. And, utterly stupid to allow to spill from his lips. This will cause a huge distraction from the campai.... wait a sec.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mitt ain't so stupid. His campaign is going terribly. Well, that paints his deployment of the "birther meme" in a new light.
Desperation and flailing is not a good light.
I should point out to GOPers that are inclined to whine about PC pressures and slap themselves on the back, "Mitt sure got that Muslim communist reeeeal gewd." It won't seem so brilliant come Nov. 6th.
Mitt better crush Obama in the debates. Not draw. Not get a leg up. Mitt needs to crush.
Of course that would take a soulfull engagement of the issues from an informed, empassioned position. Mecha Mitt does not compute. Does not compute!
"Desperation and flailing is not a good light."
ReplyDeleteSomeone on the right, could say the same about Obama's campaign.

The election cycle has turned in a sad sports rivalry, where we just go back and forth telling each other how much the other stinks.

I mention this on Facebook to Chris, despite we're both 'extremists' on differing teams, I would trust my children with you.
