There Goes the Privacy

I was about to pull out from the curb, in front of my home, when the vehicle picture below flashed past me on the left.  I followed the car up Mansur and then down and the a left turn and another before I got this fleeting picture:

It is hard to see in this picture, but there is a contraption strapped to the top of the car.  A tall contraction.  It is not so obvious in the first photo, but is in the second.  By this time I had guessed at what it was.

But what is that big bumper sticker?  I took one more photo as we were stopped, trying to enter onto Andover Street.

Did you notice the California plate on the car?  You will note that Google is located in Mountain View, California.

By the way, did she go by your place?

Yes, this was kind of a fun blog post.  Happened about two weeks ago, but I hadn't saved the photos from my iPhone to my MacBook Air until yesterday.

  1. They got my parents house some time ago in Chelmsford. The camera has two shots at completely different times of the day, which is interesting.

  2. I think the worry is not so much Google.....it's the black Suburban with tinted windows....a HUGE antenna on top.....with NSA plates.....knowing that it has a live feed to the massive infovac in Utah.....

  3. This isn't the DDR and NSA isn't the Stasi.  I don't think Renee, Neal and my wife are submitting reports on me to the Secret Police.  Even with the new campus in Utah, NSA has neither the manpower nor the computer power to track all of us—yet.  The question is, how much uncertainty are we willing to accept for our freedom from unreasonable search and seizure by the Feds and States.  We absorb ten "9/11s" a year in terms of auto accidents, with nary a peep.  How about terrorism?  President Geo W Bush did a good job of putting us back on track and avoiding hysteria.  I think it is time to dial back a bit the concern about terrorist attacks.  Yes, they will happen, but we can handle most as police matters.
