For John, BLUF: Time for the One Dollar Bill to go? Nothing to see here; just move along.
Blogger and Law Professor Ann Althouse is pushing the idea of the dollar coin, including dropping the paper One Dollar Bill. This comes out of the fight in the United Kingdom to put Jane Austin on the Ten Pound note, replacing Charles Darwin.
Out of curiosity, why couldn't the Brits have both bills in circulation?
As for the dollar coin, it works great in our parking lots here in Lowell. Two dollar coins are quicker than feeding eight quarters and a lot quicker than using a credit card.
