Sorry, I was focused on the shutdown threatened for Tuesday. The debt ceiling is a long ways off, about a fortnight.
As for abortion, what is being pushed? I went to the link and they are talking about a birth control conscience clause for employers. I expect that is something that will end up being litigated. But, in the mean time, majority rule and minority rights and all that.
To be clear, regarding the continuing resolution (keeping the Federal Government open on Tuesday), if I was running the House, I would go with requiring that all folks on Capitol Hill, and in the Federal Government, be covered like everyone else (with no big business exemption). The Congress Critters and their staffs should have to live under the same laws they foisted off on the rest of us.
Oops. I got wrapped around my own axel. Maybe, because the frothy blurtings of the "Ted Cruz Crew" have filled the echo chamber.
Debt Ceiling or Gov't Shutdown. For, some, it is slaying the Federal dragon, so they could care less. Of course, so many of these obtuse St.Pauls, suckle from that very dragons teat.
I agree the Congress should not be immune to the laws they enact. Like Obamacare & Insider Trading.
As opposed to capitulating to crackpot House GOPer ransom demands?
ReplyDeleteYa, they are injecting the abortion issue into the debt ceiling debacle.
Is there a compromise position?
ReplyDeleteOr is it Harry's way or the highway?

On abortion? Don't you think this silly fundraising flirtation is really an indication the House is not serious?
