For John, BLUF: Our freedoms are slowly bering eroded. Nothing to see here; just move along.
From Reason Magazine we have "America's Internal Checkpoints". This is about how "Refuseniks fight back against feds demanding papers" within 100 miles of US borders. Not so much a problem here in Massachusetts, but a big deal from California east to Texas.♠ The author is Mr Wes Kimbell.

♠ New York City is a special case, with its "Stop and Frisk" law.
Actually, DHS has "promulgated" (I just love that officious word) rules that declare that from our national borders inward 100 miles is a "Constitution-free corridor" in which the Amendments are suspended. Apparently, nobody has challenged it in the Federal court system. There have been numerous op-ed's penned over it in the past few months with the typical range of full support to near fanatical rejection of the idea.
ReplyDeleteYou can have freedom...or you can have safety and security.....but in modern America....not both.
Actually, I think it has been to Federal Court and freedom lost. Try US v Martinez-Fuerte
