For John, BLUF: Show Sarah on the show, tall and proud. Nothing to see here; just move along.
We know that Russia is moving on at least parts of Ukraine. And maybe the whole thing. It is their neighborhood.
So, remember Governor Sarah Palin suggesting that this could happen?
After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next. That was resurrected by Reporter Tony Lee, of Brietbart. Mocked in 2008, proven correct in 2014. Think, we could have had Ms Palin as Vice President, rather than who we have, Mr Joe Biden.
Hat tip to the Instapundit.

You are like a dog with a rag.
ReplyDeleteAnd, to your suggestion, it's easy to think what else we would have with Ms Palin the proverbial heartbeat away--the Marines embarking for World War III.
You aren't confusing Governor Palin with Comedic Actress Tina Fey, are you?
ReplyDeleteNot that Ms Palin could get elected, but that doesn't mean she is stupid. I think she understands foreign policy, not like Dr Henry Kissinger, but better than Vice President Joe Biden.
The real question is if Ukraine will stand up to Russia and if so, what we and others will do about it. China will probably support Russia, since it reinforces its idea that it should "get back" its "lost territories".
And, I think the "Ultra-Nationals" are threatening ethnic Russians line, coming from Russia, is rubbish.

What do Ms Palin's standard expressions of bellicosity have to do at all with Tina Fey?
ReplyDeleteSo Craig H, from your lofty position above we mere mortals who cede the possibility that someone else MIGHT work out pretty well...Palin included.....how is the comedy team of Obama and Biden working out for you?? We have debt spiraling as warp speed for the edges of the known universe...all without any help from Bush.....the countries who were our friends no longer trust us because we are unreliable and unpredictable, the countries who hate us are seeing us as almost prime time for easy pickings. Putin is running Ukraine up the flag pool as a test case....and we.....are dithering and making empty threats....well...not even THREATS....more like gaseous eruptions from an empty suit. Putin will very soon expand his adventurism and will soon see how far he can push into OUR world. After all, he IS back to Cuba and welcomed with open arms. Obama hasn't got the guts or the brains to pull off a JFK roadblock.
ReplyDeleteBut....keep flogging that conservative horse......its the only thing liberals know how to do.
Re Craig H's comment, I think many folks take their view of Ms Palin's views from watching Ms Fey. What can I say, you CAN see Russia from Alaska on a clear day, but not from Wasilla.
ReplyDeleteAs for Libertarians vs Republicans, the Libertarians haven't managed to form up a viable party yet. I look forward to it, but it hasn't happened yet.
You will note there are calls for the GOP to switch from Wall Street to Main Street. I commend the Book by Mr Hernando DeSoto, The Other Path. Should I order you a loaner copy (my current loaner copy is with Adam Baake)?

Oh, Cliff. What the hell?
ReplyDeletePalin couldn't run Alaska for a full term. It's comical to suggest that she has some wisdom, when we know that she was just parroting some policy wonk's cliff notes. Maybe, she gets points for picking an astute policy wonk? Or, did McCain donate his?
Citing Palin, seems a bit desperate.
But, what's a GOPer to do? Your last POTUS was a wreck. Of Putin,:
"I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straight forward and trustworthy and we had a very good dialogue.
"I was able to get a sense of his soul.
"He's a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country and I appreciate very much the frank dialogue and that's the beginning of a very constructive relationship," Mr Bush said.
....
And, I'll bet you dollars for donuts, when the 'free world' barks about the invasion of Ukraine, and the assorted carnage that will prevail; Putin will brush off his shoulder with stark remembrances of Iraq & Abu Ghraib.
Take a look into the mirror that Rachel Maddow has set up for you, Neal.
ReplyDeleteRachel Maddow Calls Out Republicans for their New Love Affair with Putin.
Neal, do you ever read anything anybody writes before you decide to take every opportunity to spout off your pre-concluded partisan conclusions?
ReplyDeleteTell me, how does thinking Ms Palin to be a warmongering populist demagogue make you decide this might be proof of affection for any other warmongering populist demagogue?
To review: I find slavish devotion to either side of this intractable political argument to be ridiculous, and your presumption that I voted for or would have anything positive to say about Barry and Joe's foreign policy is clear proof you don't pay any attention whatsoever to anything I say. (Which, taken to its logical conclusion, proves I'm a fool to even care to respond, but crazy is as crazy does).
I voted for Gary Johnson, thank you very much, and I would do it again tomorrow if someone would give me the chance.
Jack
ReplyDeleteNo hero of mine, but I do think that President Putin helped us over the Red Line in Syria. Doesn't make him my hero. Doesn't erase the Holodomor. Doesn't mean I want him to swallow up all of Ukraine. Doesn't mean I don't want some pushback for this Crimea adventure. Doesn't mean I think the South Korean woman should have won the Ice Skating competition.

For Jack, I couldn't care less what Rachael Mad Cow has to say to or about Republicans as I do not claim any allegiance to those folks...or her.
ReplyDeleteFor Craig, I answers them as I reads them. I don't know what is a pre-concluded partisan conclusion....but I'll accept that you think it must be bad. In my simple mind....my opinion is obviously different than yours. Oh well.
As for Putin.....he is a cold war icon....and I have no respect for him...nor admiration.....but then...I have no respect or admiration for anyone who thinks he is admirable or respectful.
I guess that makes me a demagog. I've been called much worse.
