For John, BLUF: I hope Marty stays here. Nothing to see here; just move along.
So the head of the UMass University System is leaving for Maryland. At least that is what The Boston Globe is saying in this article, "Robert Caret leaving as president of UMass: Will take over as leader of Maryland’s system". I wonder if Senator Markey had anything to do with this?
The good news is that UMass Lowell Chancellor Marty Meehan is claiming to not be interested in the job.
Before Caret was named UMass president, UMass Lowell Chancellor Martin Meehan was mentioned as a potential candidate for the post, speculation that quickly resumed. On the other hand, Senator E Warren is saying the same thing about the Presidency. Who among us believes her?But Meehan said Wednesday that he has had no conversations about the job and is “very happy at UMass Lowell.”
“The transformation of UMass Lowell is underway, and I’m happy to be part of it,” he said. “I’m fully engaged in continuing our growth at UMass Lowell.”

Is your Liz Warren comment out of paranoia, or cynicism? (Wall Street money has been a presidential prerequisite for years, and you know she's going to get none of it).
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely with you about Marty. He's doing some great things here, and it would be a serious blow to lose him.
I would say more cynicism than paranoia. I am betting there is money to be had, with Wall Street hedging bets. While I don't hear it in the MSM, I believe Ms Warren is the Progressive version of the Tea Party phenomena. And, if you listen to her read her book, a scrapper from fly-over country. The Good Guys and the Bad Guys. Not many shades of gray.
