Old Opinions, Overthrown

For John, BLUFHave an egg for breakfast.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

Having decided that Iran is no longer a problem, the Federal Government now says cholesterol is not a problem.

"The U.S. government is poised to withdraw longstanding warnings about cholesterol".

It is The Washington Post and the Reporter is Mr Peter Whoriskey.  Here is the lede:

The nation’s top nutrition advisory panel has decided to drop its caution about eating cholesterol-laden food, a move that could undo almost 40 years of government warnings about its consumption.

The group’s finding that cholesterol in the diet need no longer be considered a “nutrient of concern” stands in contrast to the committee’s findings five years ago, the last time it convened. During those proceedings, as in previous years, the panel deemed the issue of excess cholesterol in the American diet a public health concern.

Of course this is from February, my Brother's Birthday, but it shows how there is a certain "Fashion" to warnings from the Federal Government.

My wife's comment to me was "Aren't you glad I ignored that all these years?"  Anarchist.  Or at least Libertarian.  She learned this approach at Purdue University, where she quickly realized that Dr Spock might not be correct in all his views on raising children.

Hat tip to the InstaPundit.

  1. Yet another example of how correlation fails to prove causation. (Except, of course, if you're a government scientist running on the political agenda of your benefactors).

    Government is a scary thing.
