For John, BLUF: I wonder if cremation is a danger to climate? Nothing to see here; just move along.
It is The Blaze (Reporter Jon Street), but it is Congressional Testimony, "AG Lynch Testifies: Justice Dept. Has ‘Discussed’ Civil Legal Action Against Climate Change Deniers".
Here is the lede:
Attorney General Loretta Lynch testified Wednesday that the Justice Department has “discussed” taking civil legal action against the fossil fuel industry for “denying” the “threat of carbon emissions” when it comes to climate change. To be clear, this is not a case of the Department of Justice saying they have considered legal action against the man on the street who thinks climate change is junk science. It is focused on action against members of the fossil fuel industry. As when the Department of Justice led 46 State Attorneys General to sue the tobacco industry.
So, my question is, if the fossil fuel industry is taken to the legal woodshed and it turns out, down the road, that fossil fuel is not the evil thing we have been told it is, can the persecuted go to the courts and sue for at least their legal fees (plus interest lost)? Maybe they could go against the individuals who ran the process forward. No, not a snowball's chance.
Hat tip to the InstaPundit.
