Hurricanes vs Casualties

For John, BLUFIf this happened every year I would be concerned.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

The sub-headline:
The relatively low loss of life in both Texas and Florida underscores advances in prediction technology and citizen preparedness.  But property destruction is growing, experts say, as the US places more people and more wealth in vulnerable areas.
This is from The Christian Science Monitor, Staff Writers Patrik Johnson and Harry Bruinius.

Better forecasting and better construction and better Second Responder response.  Also, sufficient people in a given area to allow for First Responders, you and your neighbors, to effectively help one another.

Of course we could ban people from living anywhere except the Progressive Lillypads of America.

Hat tip to the InstaPundit.

You know, the Government.  The real first responders are you and your neighbors.
