The EU

Google says the EU requires a notice of cookie use (by Google) and says they have posted a notice. I don't see it. If cookies bother you, go elsewhere. If the EU bothers you, emigrate. If you live outside the EU, don't go there.

Iconoclasts at Oxford

For John, BLUFThere'll Always Be an England.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

When I first heard about this brouhaha I was skeptical.  But now that The Guardian has talked about it, I am prepared to give it credit.  It appears Oxford University Chancellor Chris Patten is telling Rhodes Scholars opposed to a statue of Cecil Rhodes, that was installed some time ago, on the facade of Oriel College, to suck it up and accept the statue, although not the racist ideas of Mr Rhodes.

Why destroy an artist's work of art when you can gather people around it and talk about it and the background of the person or event being remembered by the piece of art?

I wonder how many of those opposed to the statues of Confederate soldiers refuse to drive on US Route 1 because part of it goes through Virginia, where it is known as Jefferson Davis Highway?  Or refuse to drive over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge where Interstate 95 crosses the Potomac River?

Hat tip to my buddy Neal.
