Yes, Lavrentiy Beria

For John, BLUFSoviet Leader Lavrentiy Beria was infamous in his day, a symbol of the badly distorted Soviet "Justice" System.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

FromThe Daily Wire, by Hank Berrien, 11 November 2019.

Here is the lede plus one:

Speaking on the John Catsimatidis radio show, famed attorney and liberal Democrat Alan Dershowitz blistered CNN for its coverage of the impeachment proceedings against President Trump, saying, “CNN has banned me from their airwaves.  CNN will not allow me on their network because they don’t want a liberal Democrat to be telling their viewers the truth about the Constitution.”  Dershowiz also ripped Democrats, comparing them to the Russian secret police under the murderous Russian dictator Josef Stalin, asserting, “The Democrats are now making up crimes.”

Catsimatidis prompted Dershowitz by asking, “Do the Democrats today think that the American public is so stupid on some of the things they’re doing?”

Dershowitz replied:

They’re very scary.  They’re very frightening to any civil libertarian.  Whether you’re a Democrat or Republican; whether you come from New York or the middle of the country, you should be frightened by efforts to try to create crimes out of nothing.  The latest twist was people on television, particularly CNN and MSNBC, are saying that if the president or somebody else was to name the whistleblower in the Ukrainian situation, that person would be guilty of a crime.  I said in the afternoon yesterday — searching the federal criminal statutes from beginning to end — I couldn’t find the crime.  It reminds me of Lavrentiy Beria, head of the KGB, said to Stalin, he said, “Show me the man and I’ll find you the crime.”  Which he really meant, I’ll make up the crime.
Yes, Lavrentiy Beria?

Maybe it is time for Speaker Pelosi or Minority Leader Schumer or DNC Chairman Perez to introduce the vast majority of Democrats to Kübler-Ross.  The vast majority are stuck in Stage 1—Denial.

Invidious Comparisons

For John, BLUFEnough with the Hitler comparisons.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

From PJ Media, by Ms Sarah Hoyt, 22 June 2018.

Here are the first three paragraphs:

My sons started playing a game about ten years ago when they were in their early and mid-teens.  If I was doing something, usually something perfectly normal, particularly if I told them, “Wait a minute, while I finish writing this post” they’d say “You know who else wrote posts?” and the answer was “Hitler.”

Younger son, who is… uh… like me threw in a new wrinkle, when I got exasperated and said “Hitler” before he could, he would say “Good Lord, no.  What made you think that?” with an expression of theatrical horror.

Little did I know the left would be playing this for real.  And honestly now I wonder if the kids were saying that because their teachers were already playing at this nonsense.

Of course, the other side could go with the Joseph Stalin comparisons, with Mr Robert Mueller being cast in the role of Lavrentiy Beria.

The Never Ending Investigation

For John, BLUF"Show me the man and I’ll find you the crime"—Lavrentiy Pavlovich Beria.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

It is Reuters, and Reporter Karen Freifeld, today, 18 August 2017. Here is the lede plus three:

(Reuters) - The White House lawyer brought in to deal with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election said he believed the focus of the probe was "narrow" and the aspects related to President Donald Trump should be completed before the end of the year.

The lawyer, Ty Cobb, who joined the White House staff on July 31, made the comments in interviews with Reuters on Tuesday and Wednesday.  He declined to provide specifics backing his outlook, which contradicts media reports that the scope of Mueller’s probe is expanding and the views of several outside experts that the investigation is likely to continue well into 2018.

"I'd like to see the president out from under this by Thanksgiving, but certainly by year end," Cobb said, adding that he would be "embarrassed" otherwise.  "I think the relevant areas of inquiry by the special counsel are narrow."

Mueller is investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, among other matters. Moscow has denied interfering in the election and the president has denied collusion took place.

I will be pleased if Lawyer Ty Cobb is correct, but I am thinking this probe will go on for ever, or until Mr Mueller retires, a Democrat is elected President or we experience the Apocalypse.  Not necessarily in that order.  And note that the Rapture won't end it.  The Parousia would do the trick.
