Here is the lede plus two:

LOOKING BACK (A bit long): I’ve studied an awful lot of history in getting a degree in political philosphy, and that through the very left-leaning CUNY school system.  On reflection, it has become clear to me that anyone who uses the word “insurrection” descibing the idiocy of Jan. 6 has no idea what they are talking about.

Was it a riot?  Yep.  Were many of the particpants dopes?  Yep.  But read how John Adams, Robespierre, Lenin, Mao and Castro pulled off genuine “revolutions” and you’ll see that mobbing a capitol building isn’t even close.  You need to control central information and transportation hubs, get the army to back you, and bring weapons.

None of that happened on J6.  If you use the word “insurrection” to describe J6:  You have zero credibility.

Sums up my view on the issue.  For example, who went to the studios of NPR to take control of that source of information to the Citizens?

Liz Cheney, Jan. 6 Committee suppressed key evidence of Trump pushing for 10,000 National Guard troops to protect Capitol: Report

Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and the January 6 Committee suppressed key evidence that former President Donald Trump pushed for 10,000 National Guard troops to protect the U.S. Capitol building ahead of the riots, according to a report.

Cheney and the Democratic-led House Select Committee on January 6 contended that there was "no evidence" to support Trump officials' claims the White House had pressed for 10,000 National Guard troops ahead of the protests in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021.

However, a transcribed interview conducted by the committee from January 2022 appears to show evidence that Trump urged Democrat leadership to bring in thousands of National Guard troops to prevent any widespread violence on Jan. 6, according to a new report from The Federalist.

Then-Deputy Chief of Staff Anthony Ornato was interviewed by the committee on Jan. 28, 2022.  The transcripts show that he told Cheney and other investigators that he overheard White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows urge Democrat D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser to request as many National Guard troops as she needed to protect the city before the demonstrations centered around the results of the 2020 presidential election.

"And I remember the number 10,000 coming up of, you know, 'The president wants to make sure that you have enough.'  You know, 'He is willing to ask for 10,000.'  I remember that number," Ornato told the January 6 Committee.  "Now that you said it, it reminded me of it.  And that she was all set.  She had, I think it was like 350 or so for intersection control, and those types of things not in the law enforcement capacity at the time."

Mollie Ziegler Hemingway wrote, "Not only did the committee not accurately characterize the interview, they suppressed the transcript from public review.  On top of that, committee allies began publishing critical stories and even conspiracy theories about Ornato ahead of follow-up interviews with him.  Ornato was a career Secret Service official who had been detailed to the security position in the White House."

President Biden's State of the Union characterization of our political ssituation is dire:

Not since President Lincoln and the Civil War have freedom and democracy been under assault here at home as they are today.

Do we believe that, aside from the persecution of Donald Trump by a form of Lawfare,♠ that our political system is in trouble?  I am not so sure.  How does it compare to the Palmer Raids or the 47,000 who showed up for the Bonus March?  What about the shoot-up of the House of Representatives, wounding four Congressmen, back on 1 March 1954, just over 70 years ago?

A for the 6 January 2021 event itself, there is too much hand waving to satisfy me.  For example, the murder of Ashley Babbitt.  The pipe bombs.  The Capitol Police waving in visitors.  The failure to release hours of video.  The fact that arrests in the wake of of 6 January are increasing today, rather than decreasing.♥ However, there are certain time limits.  U.S. Attorney for D.C. Matt Graves says the statutes of limitations for many of the charges used by prosecutors will expire on 5 January 2026 – "on the eve of the riot's five-year anniversary."

If then Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not appeared to stack the Special Committee I would be more trusting of the cohnclusions.  As it is, it appears tainted and that is on Ms Pelosi.

♠  The thing most glaring to me is the way DoJ has passed over Preside4nbt Biden's mishandling of classified information from when he was a Senator and Vice president, but prosecution of President Trump for like offenses, from when Mr Trump was President, when he had vastly greater powers.  while some don't see it, it screams at me. ♥  Is this some form of political intimidation?

The attack on Brazil's Congress was stoked by social media — and by Trump allies

Long before Sunday's shocking attack on Brazil's Congress and other government buildings, warning signs on social media pointed to possible violence by backers of former President Jair Bolsonaro — one of several important parallels with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol two years ago.

The similarities run deep: In addition to the aim of subverting an election, some of the same U.S. voices that amplified then-President Donald Trump's false claims of a stolen election before the Capitol assault have also sought to sow doubt over Bolsonaro's loss to Brazil's new president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

In the space of 24 hours over Sunday and Monday, former Trump political adviser Steve Bannon said no fewer than 10 times on the right-wing social media platform Gettr that Lula "stole the election."  When he shared images from Brasilia on Sunday showing the houses of Brazil's democracy under attack, Bannon labeled the insurrectionists "freedom fighters."

Since before the October election, Bannon has been hosting guests on his popular podcast warning about fraud in Brazil and promoting accusations that voting had been compromised.

Their main point of attack is Mr Steve Bannon, but President Trump has been pulled into this argument that the US is responsible for the riots and unrest in Brazilia, the National Capitol of Brazil, over the election of Lula da Silva over Jair Bolsonaro.

Here is a comment from the author:

“You know what’s Trump’s fault?  The violent protests in Brazil, where they do political violence with the same enthusiasm and frequency as they play soccer.”

I think that sums it up.  Brazil, with a populationo of 217 million people, seems quite capable of creating its own political theater, without help from other quarters.

What we are seeing here is NPR repoorters writing in a racist way, assuming that a nation with a majroity non-Caucasian population is not capable of conducting its own revolutions, coups and counter-coups.  That is pretty petty on their part, and racist  Or perhaps they have prejudged former President Donald Trump and want him in jail and will hang whatever they can on him to make it happen.  What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Understanding the 6 January Capitol Hill Imbroglio

"As one of the nation’s leading proponents of the insurrection hoax, Liz Cheney has pushed a grotesquely false, fabricated, hysterical partisan narrative.  Look at the so-called word insurrection, January 6 – what a lot of crap."

Said Donald Trump, quoted in "Trump calls Capitol attack an ‘insurrection hoax’ as public hearings set to begin/Former president intensifies attacks on Liz Cheney at Wyoming rally and endorses her Republican primary challenger in midterm elections" (The Guardian).

I believe what he was calling a hoax was the "insurrection" characterization.  That's why he said "the so-called word insurrection."  Now, that's a bit inarticulate.  Obviously, "insurrection" is really a word.  The point is that entry into the Capitol doesn't fit the definition of an "insurrection," which isn't a surprising assertion.  Trump gets back at his accusers by calling the "insurrection" characterization "a grotesquely false, fabricated, hysterical partisan narrative."

Has anyone on the Cheney side ever explained how it could be possible to think that overrunning the building could overthrow the government?  I wish people on both sides would use accurate language, but of course, they won't.

If it was an insurrection it was one of the worst in recorded history.  I have heard nothing about plans to seize communications centers.  There seemed to have been no plan for sustaining an occupation of the Capitol Building.  The number of armed participants seemed small.  Yes, we need more of a Wikipedia definition of insurrection than a Dictionary version.  On the other hand, the Post-6 January judicial process seems slow, ineffective, vindictive and avoiding of any deep dive.

Pretty much sums up my views.  However, one wonders if what the Democrats in the House of Representatives are thinking is Coup?

In summation, I see the 6 Jsnuary hearings as being a political ploy by a coalition of Democrats and Anti-Trump Republicans, to try to smear all Republicans in anticipation of the November Elections.  I don't think it will work.&nsp; On the other hand, I don't think it will hurt Democrats in the Mid-Term Elections any more than will inflation of fuel and food prices.

In the mean time, individuals continue to misremember what happened.  For example, President Biden recently said that two Capitol Police were killed by the "Occupiers".  Didn't happen. Yet no discussion of the killing of Ashli Babbitt.

For the re4cord, I believe ethat Candidate Joe Biden received the necessary Electoral College votes to be President of the United States.  At the same time, I believe there were irregularities in voting in various states.

The black clad army of mercenaries and police brutalizing a peaceful protest in Ottawa this weekend has been planned for years. It is overkill for a reason. It is theatre. It is an othering, a willful flagrant statement on the future of the working class everywhere. It instructs them: you will die. If not now, then sometime in the next ten years. Your towns will be gutted, your jobs will evaporate, you will scramble for pennies until you fall over dead and your children will have nothing to look forward to. This week, Canada’s intelligentsia unmasked themselves as fully on side of this demonic enterprise, competing to hate on the truckers. I watch or read very little of it because 95% of newsrooms vote either Liberal or Socialist and I spent two years in my early 20’s dating and arguing with a black Marxist professor, so I know exactly what they think.

And what they “think” is hate:

“So why was I, at the trucker convoy in Toronto, gripped by a deep physical loathing, true abjection?”

She has a reasonable position.
