The Democrats and Election Day

For John, BLUF:  I think a lot of Democrats are in denial and approaching 8 November on "a wing and a prayer".  Nothing to see here; just move along.

From Victory Girls Blog, by Ms Toni Williams, 29 October 2022.

Here is the lede plus four:

Massachusetts is a special place. Men seem to come out of there full of arrogance, but lacking a substantial soundness. C.S. Lewis called them men without chests. “Men without chests”:
In his book, The Abolition of Man, Lewis was prophetic in pointing out that relativism—the idea that there are no absolute truths—would lead to the decay of morality and a lack of virtue within society. Without a belief in and the teaching of universal moral laws, we fail to educate the heart and are left with intelligent men who behave like animals or as Lewis puts it, “Men without Chests.”
Jake Auchincloss seems to me to be one of those men.

Mr. Auchincloss (D) is in his first term representing the Fourth District of Massachusetts. He was previously a Republican and an Independent. Mr. Auchincloss is a Marine Major in the Individual Ready Reserve now, but during his active duty days, he deployed to Afghanistan and Panama. He graduated from Harvard and the Massachussets Institute of Technology. The Auchicloss family is prominent in the state and he is also related to McGeorge Bundy.

One might think someone with that resume would be substantial. One would be way wrong. By the way, his father is Deputy Director for Anthony Fauci. Yep. That explains so much.

Yes, the Massachusetts Fourth Congressional District.  It would make Governor Elbridge Gerry Proud.

So, the Congressman, loooking forward to 8 November, "said that on election night there will be a lot of disappointed GOP candidates and they should watch their words because there are a lot of disturbed individuals in this country."  He is saying that the disturbed in these United Ststes are all Republicans and to bring up Rep Rand Paul or the shooting of the Congressional Republican Baseball Team (or, I assume, the man lookikng to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh) is just whataboutism and can be dismissed.

I will try to remember to cheeck out his web page on 9 November.

The Left's Abuse of Andy Ngo

For John, BLUF:  Antifa is an excuse for leftist extremists to abuse other people and commit violence.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

Here is the sub-headline:

Masked activists attacked the Quillette editor with fists and milkshakes, sending him to the emergency room.

From Reason, by Reporter Robb Soave, 29 June 2019.

Here is the lede plus two:

Andy Ngo, a photojournalist and editor at Quillette, landed in the emergency room after a mob of antifa activists attacked him on the streets of Portland during a Saturday afternoon demonstration. The assailants wore black clothing and masks, and were engaged in a counter-protest against several right-wing groups, including the Proud Boys. Ngo is a well-known chronicler of antifa activity, and has criticized their illiberal tactics on Fox News. He attended the protest in this capacity—as a journalist, covering a notable public event. According to Ngo, his attacker stole his camera equipment. But video footage recorded by another journalist, The Oregonian's Jim Ryan, clearly shows an antifa activist punching Ngo in the face. Others throw milkshakes at him:
Nation of Change denigrates Reporter Andy NGO as not being a real Reporter, but that is no reason for violence.  What jerks think otherwise?

Anti-Religious Violence Worldwide

For John, BLUF:  Without a full and balanced reporting of violence against religious groups one could draw wrong conclusions.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

From End of the American Dream, by Mr Michael Snyder, 17 March 2019.

Here is the lede plus three:

Last week, when a deranged lunatic gunned down dozens of Muslims at two mosques in New Zealand it suddenly became the biggest news story in the world, and rightly so.  It was a major news event, and it needed to be reported.  But shouldn’t mass killings of Christians be given the same sort of media coverage?  Sadly, we all know that doesn’t happen.  Whenever there is a mass killing of Christians, it is usually entirely ignored by the mainstream media in the United States, and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why this is happening.  Those that control the mainstream media consider Christians to be one of the main obstacles to “progress” in this country, and so any story that would put Christians in a positive or sympathetic light simply does not fit any of the narratives that they are pushing.

As a result of the lack of media coverage, the vast majority of Americans do not know that “4,136 Christians were killed for faith-related reasons” last year.

That number breaks down to an average of 11 per day.

In Nigeria, more than 120 Christians have been gunned down or killed with machetes over the past three weeks, but Breitbart was the only big media outlet to report on it…

Yes, this is way out of the mainstream, but the fact is that the 120 folks killed in Nigeria over the last several weeks will not be showing up for breakfast.  For some reason, others decided they didn't have a right to life.  That does not seem like a good thing.

I am not convinced the mainstream media is suppressing this news because of the dangers of Christianity, but I do think the idea of Muslim groups attacking Christians in various parts of the world works against the idea of Caucasians (especially males) as standing in the way of progress.  (It gets confusing when you consider that vast numbers of Muslims are Caucasian and the 120 dead Nigerian Christians were Black.)

Squirrel Hill Shooting

For John, BLUF:  This is a terrible event, made worse by people chasing after irrelevant squirrels scampering all over the place.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

Here is the sub-headline:

The shooter is to blame.

From Commentary Magazine, by Mr John Podhoretz, 27 October 2018.

Here is the lede plus one:

The synagogue in Pittsburgh is called the Tree of Life.  The name is a translation into English of the Hebrew phrase etz chaim.  We sing those words as the Torah is put away on every Shabbat.  They are words from the Book of Proverbs: “She is a tree of life for those that cling to her and all who do are happy.”  The “she” in that sentence is “wisdom,” and the verse that precedes it is especially poignant in light of what has happened:  “Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.”  Today the paths of peace were befouled by a monstrous anti-Semite who stormed the Tree of Life shouting something about Jews needing to die as he murdered and injured and then shot at some cops for good measure.

In every generation they rise up against us to destroy us. In a classic act of anti-Semitic violence, which is what this is, Jews hear the echoes of every violent anti-Semitic act that has preceded it in history.  And we hear those echoes because they are there.  That which motivates Jew-hatred today is what has motivated it from time immemorial—the poisonously attractive idea that Jews need to be extirpated because our existence is an offense or a threat to an existing larger order.  The blessing of Jewish life in America is that this notion has largely been consigned to the dregs from which today’s human malignancy rose.  Despite the fact that most hate crimes in America are aimed at Jews, the actual number is vanishingly small—especially compared to France, from which Jews are now fleeing, and England, whose Labour Party is in the hands of an actual Jew-hater.

This is a horrendous event and one that embarrasses me as an American and as a Christian (no order implied).  But, I am also offended by the way some people try to put blame on our President for this.

Here is a post by Law Professor Glenn Harlan Reynolds on this, with an extract from the above linked article:

NEVER-TRUMPER JOHN PODHORETZ IS NONETHELESS HIGHLY OFFENDED BY THE ANTI-TRUMP SMEARS:
Based on the early evidence, the shooter was not only consumed with a hatred of Jews but possessed a kind of sneering contempt for Trump on the grounds that Trump was basically a Jewish agent or a Jew-lover himself.  Trump can only be blamed for the murderous Jew-killing actions of someone who thought of him that way by people who are so consumed by hatred of him that there is nothing they won’t blame him for.
We need to pray for the victims, denounce anti-semitism, denounce political violence and rebuke those who try to tie the President to this terrible act.
