Hyatt Hotels fires back at Democrats demanding boycott of hotel chain for hosting CPAC

Hyatt Hotels responded to critics on Friday who demanded a boycott of the hotel chain over its decision to host the 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, Florida.

What did the hotel say?

A spokesperson for Hyatt said Hyatt is committed to providing "a safe and inclusive environment" to "care for people so they can be their best."

The statement further added that Hyatt believes in diversity of thought, which made hosting CPAC a no-brainer.

We take pride in operating a highly inclusive environment and we believe that the facilitation of gatherings is a central element of what we do as a hospitality company.  We believe in the right of individuals and organizations to peacefully express their views, independent of the degree to which the perspectives of those hosting meetings and events at our hotels align with ours.  Our own values support a culture that is characterized by empathy, respect and diversity of opinions and backgrounds, and we strive to bring this to light through what we do and how we engage with those in our care.

I think we should be careful to not divide ourselvess into camps, camps that won't countenance going shopping in a store associated with "the other side."  That is not the way to grow the economy, and thus grow jobs.

AOC:  ‘Southern States Are Not Red States, They’re Suppressed States,’ Must Be Liberated To ‘Heal’ USA

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed without evidence during an hour-long Instagram post Tuesday that Southern states are not “red states,” but rather “suppressed states” that need to be liberated to “heal” America.

“That’s what we got to do. We got to organize.  And I think what we saw in Georgia is a really good example with black women leading the way, with multiracial and multicultural organizations leading the way, um, they proved that southern states are not red states,” she claimed.  “They are suppressed states.  Which means the only way that our country is going to heal is through the actual liberation of southern states, the actual liberation of the poor, the actual liberation of working people—from economic, social, and racial oppression.  That’s the only way.  That’s the only way.”

I believe that Representative Sandy Cortez has missed the boat here, but at least she understands the need for unity in these United States.  I hope the White House and the leadership on Capitol Hill also see the need for unity.  The leadership on both sides of the asile.
