Blogger Ann Althouse is now using the expression IYLYPYCKYP. That pretty well sums it up. She quotes Mr Evan McMorris-Santoro, at BuzzFeed as saying the change "doesn’t change anything other than force insurers to be the political flack jackets♠ for the administration."
Today's headline in The Boston Globe (print edition) is
Obama yields on below-par insuranceBelow-par insurance? Yes, that is the point. Like Mayor Bloomberg in New York City, the Administration (and Senator Reid and Minority Leader Pelosi) think you are too dumb to properly pick your own health insurance. At least that is what the Headline Writers of The Globe are saying, and by extension, the Editorial Staff of the paper. And, the key is in the subparagraph of the Globe article:
Lets policies continue for a year, accepts blame for consumer uproarNot the second part, the first part.
If you like your health plan you can keep it for another year. Now stop having a tempter tantrum while the adults take care of things.
This is mostly theater and we have not seen the final act.

The Administration and its inept enabler, the Congress, have violated and continue to violate the cardinal rule "When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging." Short of abandoning the whole misguided mess and starting all over, anything that is done now will only make the whole deeper.
Yes, this is theater, and the final act is classic tragedy. The folks who didn't have insurance will continue to not have insurance....or at least.....insurance that will do them any good. So what if you pay rock bottom monthly premiums if your deductible amounts to a home mortgage and your copays rob you of food on the table or warmth in your house.
The only benefactors in this charade are politicians (for now) and a few select insurance companies...who will NOT lose money under Obamacare. They will merely rearrange the shells on the playing board. In fact, some may actually make MORE money under this horrible law.
That we have the law at all is ONLY about narcissism and insatiable egos.
This is not going to end well.
