What Is Happening in Korea?

For John, BLUFYou have already seen it.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

Today on City Life there was a special guest, David Maxwell, Colonel, US Army (retired), who is a Senior Fellow with the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

Colonel Maxwell talked about Korea, South and north.

Not an “Academic” discussion, but it was, for me, an interesting review for the layperson.

It can be seen again on LTC, "Channel 8”, at 5:00 this afternoon, or at this link, again on "Channel 8”.

Crisis in Cameroon

For John, BLUFThere is nations coming together and there is nations with the majority trying to change the minority, against the will of the minority.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

Crisis in Cameroon

Lowell Resident Fru Nkimbeng has been on City Life talking about the problem in the nation of Cameroon.  The nation was originally an amalgam of Francophone and Anglophone areas, separate in language and legal approach.  However, the separation of the two portions has been eliminated by the majority Francophone controlled central government trying to impose its views on the minority Anglophone.

This will be discussed by a panel of experts on this Thursday, 11 May, at Lowell Telecommunications Corporation (LTC) at 7:00 PM.

The location is 246 Market Street, here in Lowell.  Nearby is the Leo Roy Parking Garage.

It should be an interesting panel discussion and worth your attending.

The Anglophone portion uses Common Law and the Francophone uses "Civil Law".
I would be there but I have to be at the meeting of the License Commission at the same time.

Revisions

Commissioner Tom Wirtanen will be on City Life (LTC Channel 8 in the AM) tomorrow and while the show is for Dracut, where the Commissioner had a law practice for a decade, the Host, George Anthes, may try to steer the conversation around to the LRCC By-Laws.  I would note that the revisions are still in development.

The City Manager's Soirée

On City Life today there is a discussion of the City Manager's Soirée on LTC tomorrow evening at 6:30 PM.

I was invited, but must decline, as there is a Greater Lowell Technical High School School Committee meeting at the same time.  I am not capable of bilocation.

I think it will be interesting, but I doubt that it will be contentious.  I commend it to you.  Live.  On LTC.

Contrary to some, I don't see the list of invitees to talk with him about the last six years as "minions" of City Manager Bernie Lynch.  I don't see Gerry Nutter or Jack Mitchell or The [Lowell] Sun reporters as being "minions".  That said, as Host George Anthes points out, an hour and a half is pretty short to ask a lot of questions.

UPDATE:  Boy was that a mind slip; it is the City Manager, not the Mayor.  Thanks to Jack Mitchell for pointing this out.
