Have The Tables Turned on Capitol Hill?

For John, BLUFThreat of a Coup (Coup d'Etat) on the part of a Democrat in Congress (New York 16th District Democrat Representative Jamaal Bowman).  Nothing to see here; just move along.

From Town Hall, by Managing Editor Spencer Brown, 14 June 2022, 10:15 AM.

Here is the lede plus one:

Democrats are scrambling to cobble together a case for why they should be reelected and maintain control in the House less than five months before the midterms, and one progressive member of the House is raising eyebrows for the explanation he made as to why Democrats should be elected in November.

Unsurprisingly, Democrats don't have much of a case to make ahead of the midterms.  Their majorities in Congress and Biden in the White House have ushered in inflation at 40-year highs, gas prices doubling in less than 16 months to set records beyond $5 per gallon, an open border, a crime crisis, and international embarrassments.  So, when two thirds of Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck, what case is left for Democrats to make?  Vote for us or there will be civil war.  Hoo-boy.

Joining MSNBC's The Cross Connection with Tiffany Cross over the weekend, [Representative Jamaal] Bowman — who is a member of The Squad(TM) — explained what Americans can expect if Republicans pick up seats and retake Congress this November

"Vote for us or there will be civil war."  That is not an attractive approach.  It says that if the American Voters, by some majority, back Republican Candidates, then the MINORITY! the losers, will rise up in revolution, in an Insurgency against the Majority.

If Rep Bowman was thinking a massive Voter Education program, so 2024 will go differently, then fine.  However, it sounded like he wants to change our form of government, by force, to empower Blue Areas, like LA, Chicago and New York City.  That would be morally and Constitutionally wrong and would likely evoke an armed response.  Representative Bowman would be like a modern day Jefferson Davis, walking away from a life dedicated to these United States, as West Point Cadet, Senator and Secretary of War.

Perhaps Rep Bowman believes the Democrats can pull off a coup, backed by Progressives in the Federal Buureaucracy.  Would the Biden Administration back such a move?

Where does Representative Liz Chaney stand on this?

Canceling Israeli Defense

For John, BLUFIt is shocking to me to see the anti-Israeli, anti-Semitic, flow in the Democratic Party.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

Here is the sub-headline:

Republicans Blast The Move

From The Lid Blog, by Mr Jeff Dunetz, 21 September 2021.

Here is the lede plus one:

Until today, Sept. 21, the Democrats’ stopgap spending bill that the House plans to vote on this week included $1 billion for Israel’s Iron Dome defensive anti-rocket system. A group of progressive Democrats threatened to block the legislation unless the defensive aid was withdrawn, continuing the anti-Israel policies which have dominated the Democratic Party since Barack Obama became POTUS.

To put that $1 billion in context, President Biden left over $80 billion worth of military equipment behind for the terrorist Taliban during the Afghan pull-out.

According to Politico, the group that threatened to block the continuing resolution unless the defensive funding for Israel was removed. included Rep. Mark Pocan (D., Wis), the Squad, and other members who signed onto unsuccessful legislation to block arms sales to Israel in May and have made both Anti-Israel and Anti-Semitic statements in the past.

To be clear, the Iron Dome is a defensive system, which protects all residents of Israel, regardless of faith, from missile attacks.

The Spectator talks to this kind of thing,"The New York Times tips its anti-Semitic hand".  It wasn't that long ago that we all pledged, never again.  Have we forgotten so quickly?  Or was that just a Caucasian, European, thing?

Alternative View

For John, BLUFMy wife thinks the only plausible explanation for Speaker Pelosi's actions is that she [secretly] wants President Trump reëlected.  This is a plausible alternative answer.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

From DaTechGuy, by baldilocks (AKA Juliette Akinyi Ochieng), 21 December 2019.

Here is the gist of the article:

Trump doesn’t care about the stigma of impeachment.  He knew they were planning it before the election and, once he got elected, it was on.

Some of them even said so in public on Inauguration Day.

So, after the Mueller investigation came up empty, President Trump goaded them into doing it; he was the one who made sure that the second Ukraine call got into the hands of the “whistle-blower.”  I theorized about this weeks ago.

He did it so that there would be a trial and, of course, during the trial, all eyes will be watching.  That’s when all the things that our government has been doing to us will come out and those things will come out of the mouth of the President of the United States.

That’s when we’ll find out the height, weight, breadth and time length of all the graft and money-laundering that has been going on in the US government at least for the last 50 years, perpetrated by all three branches of government and by both parties.

Pelosi knows this and it’s why she’s holding up progress.  The House voted in favor of impeachment and then promptly departed for Christmas break without sending the articles of impeachment to the senate, as is necessary for a true impeachment to occur.

She didn’t want the impeachment at all for this very reason.  But her caucus is much dumber and more vocal than she is, so she had no choice.  So, now she’ll play the role of Grand Impeacher of Trump and avoid sending the articles of impeachment to the senate for as long as she can.  She knows it won’t last, but she’ll play Trump-slayer — figuratively speaking — while she can.

How long can she manipulate this Impeachment drama.  Not very long, I would think.

First Reports

For John, BLUFIt is the Human way to start forming a theory as the first data point comes in.  As Napoleon Bonaparte tells us, "First reports are always wrong."  Nothing to see here; just move along.

From The Washington Free Beacon, by Reporter David Rutz, 12 December 2019.

Here is the lede plus two:

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.) blamed "white supremacy" Thursday for a mass killing in New Jersey carried out by two black assailants, one of whom had ties to a nationalist hate group.

Tlaib linked to a tweet from IfNotNow naming three of the victims of Wednesday's rampage in Jersey City, two of whom were Orthodox Jews.&Nbsp; She wrote, "This is heartbreaking.  White supremacy kills."

Tlaib, who represents a majority African-American district in Detroit, deleted her tweet after respondents pointed out the race of the suspects.  She didn't send any follow-up tweet acknowledging her error, condemning the perpetrators, or expressing condolences for the victims.

From the headline I had expected some convoluted theory about how Caucasians had created a situation that led to this shootout.  Alas, it was an ignorance of the actual situation, informed by prejudices.

Ilhan Omar Choose Poorly

For John, BLUFBless her little heart, she just doesn't understand the larger cultural ramifications.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

This InstaPundit Blog post, by Mr Ed Driscoll, was up on 30 October 2019.

Here is the post:

UNEXPECTEDLY:  Ilhan Omar one of three House reps to vote ‘present’ on Armenia genocide bill.  “Omar refused to back a resolution Tuesday that recognized the slaughter of Armenians by Ottoman Turks during WWI as a ‘genocide.'”
How her District votes in 2020 will tell us more about the Voters than it will about her.

To me, it seems this issue is exacerbated by the modern Republic of Turkey not being able to break with the Ottoman Empire, which it replaced in 1923.  If a distinction could be draw then there might be reconciliation.  But, it would require recognition that terrible things happened, things Representative Omar can't see—"some people did something."

I Blame Trump

For John, BLUFI am sure the Blogger is tapping into the mindset of the Squad.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

From IMAO, by Harvey, 20 August 2019.

Here is the post:

Most of the countries which are now failed socialist states had healthy economies and democratic governments when President Trump was born.  See?  Socialism would totally work if it weren’t for Trump.
