Scot Lehigh and Birthers

In today's edition of The Boston Globe columnist Scot Lehigh goes after gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker for going to a fund raiser for Bill Hudak, a candidate for nomination as the Republican contender for the Sixth Congressional District.

Per Mr Lehigh, Mr Hudak is a "Birther" and referred to then Candidate Barak Obama as Osama bin Laden.  The second is the kind of campaigning that is very low rent and should be avoided by all reasonable people.  The first is an issue that has passed its prime.  Further, at this point I would hate to see the President impeached for his birth certificate, only to find him replaced by Vice President Joe Biden.  That would be going from the frying pan into the fire.  Plus, it is strange to me that the Democratic Party would know that Mr Obama wasn't born in the US and then thought it could keep that under wraps for three, four or five years.  This was an interesting question in 2008, but it should be long gone as an issue in 2010.

But, having established, I hope, that I have no support for Mr Hudak's comments, I wonder, since I have been down in Virginia for several days, on vacation, if Mr Lehigh has done a similar column denouncing Democrats who have not distanced themselves from those who call the "Tea Party" movement racist.

C'mon Cliff--are you suggesting refusing to accept the legality of an officially certified State of Hawaii-issued birth certificate is the same thing as interpreting signs carried at Tea Party rallies that portray Obama as a monkey as racist?

The Tea Party itself is to blame for not distancing itself from racists who participate in their rallies. In fact, now that the majority of Tea Party-publicized issues are things like immigration reform, (i.e. entirely irrelevant to the founding principles of small government and personal liberty), it's hardly anything but patriotic to call bullshit on the hypocrisy.

You need to improve the logic on this one if you ever hope to sell it to me.

Just to expand on the point about Hudak -- in addition to what Mr. Lehigh wrote, note for the record that Mr. Hudak placed a poster prominently ON HIS FRONT LAWN that depicted President Obama with a beard and turban with a caption referring to him as Osama bin Laden.

This became a big issue when his neighbors in Danvers complained about it. The photos of the poster itself, as well as Hudak's response are Google-able.

As far as I'm concerned, that's a redline.

Poor little Birthers (still in denial about their losses), but our Judges will continue to smack down the crazies .

To all the birthers in La, La Land, it is on you to prove to all of us that your assertion is true (TOUGH WHEN YOU KEEP LOSING CASES), if there are people who were there and support your position then show us the video (everyone has a price), either put up or frankly shut-up. I heard Orly Taitz, is selling a tape (I think it’s called “Money, Lies and Video tape”). She is from Orange County, CA, now I know what the mean when they say “behind the Orange Curtain”, when they talk about Orange County, the captial of Conspiracy Theories.

You know Obama has a passport, he travel abroad before he was a Senator, but I guess they were in on it.
In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme of clans; the Baggers, Birthers and Blowhards (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away the rights of those they just hate) and that’s who they need to extract from their party if they real want to win in November. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”.

I wonder if Orly Taitz, is a mail order bride, just like her law degree? She is perfect reporter material for “Fake News”, where unfounded rumors and innuendo reign supreme, unlike a our US courts of law. The way our courts work is that you get a competent lawyer, verifiable facts and present them to a judge, if the facts are real and not half baked lies, then, and only then, you proceed to trial. The Birthers seem to be having a problem with their so called facts that they present. Let’s face it no one will go along with you until you guys win a case, but until then, you will continue to appear dumb, crazy or racist, or maybe all three. A lawyer, dentist, realtor and black belt, WOW I must say a JACK of all trades master of none.

I heard that Orly Taitz, now wants to investigate the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC), she wants to re-establish a family values party, good luck with that.

We won the election and now these sore losers will continue to spew their hate with lies.

For Kad, no, I am saying that as long as we are going after such things we should include those who tar the whole Tea Party Movement with the brush of racism.  I have been to Tea Party events in the local area and have not seen evidence of racism.  And you?

For Greg, I think I stipulated that Mr Hudak is following the "low rent" path and if I were to use that term in verbal communication you would understand that it is a strong condemnation.

For Preston, who said:  "We won the election and now these sore losers will continue to spew their hate with lies." I would suggest that such a position could have blowback implications. Everyone wins and loses (well except in Massachusetts, where the Democrats in the last few decades just keep winning).  As for Orange County, where I voted for almost three decades, it used to be very conservative (think Knott's Berry Farm), but then people began moving out there from LA County and now it is more like the lower reaches of New Hampshire.  But, looking at the overall comment, you had a couple of points that were a bit classless.  But, feel free to comment as long as you show some discretion.  Heck, I welcome your comments.  It gives me an excuse to respond.
