Court Rules Private Manning a Ms, not a Mr

For John, BLUFFor those who call the Fabled 47 traitors, I wonder what they think of Private Manning?  Nothing to see here; just move along.

Military dot Com was republished an article from The [Manchester] Guardian, by Reporter Ed Pilkington, "Court Bans Military From Referring to Manning as 'He'".  This is, of course, about Army Private Chelsea Manning, nee Bradley Manning.
Chelsea Manning , the U.S. Army soldier serving 35 years in prison for leaking a huge stash of state secrets, has won a small but significant victory in her bid to transition to living as a woman.

Manning challenged the military's ongoing refusal to refer to her as a woman, and won.  A court order from the U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals instructs the military to refer to the soldier in all future official correspondence either using the gender neutral "Private First Class Manning" or employing the feminine pronoun.

The primary impact may be that the Army moves Private Manning from the Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth to another location.  Fort Leavenworth has no women in confinement.

As an aside, Private Manning, while incarcerated, writes for The [Manchester] Guardian.

In other news, the man who put on line the US classified materials that Private Manning released to Wikileaks, Australian Julian Assange, has, a day ago, been given a new option by the Swedish Authorities, who wish to question him regarding rape allegations.  The story, originally by Reporter Hugues Honore of Agence France-Presse (AFP), is in Yahoo News as "Sweden offers to question Assange in London in U-turn".

Convicted traitors are at least that much more honorable for their punishment received. If only all traitors could learn the same lesson.
