A friend of mine, commenting on the latest bad news out of Venezuela, commented:
It is hard to believe that democratically elected socialists could screw up a country so badly.But, his best line was:Or maybe it's harder to believe that there are folks who support socialists (democratically elected ones, of course!), in the belief that "democratically elected" somehow makes their policies more likely to succeed.
Perhaps democratically elected physicists can turn off gravity?And that is the problem. There ar some "economic rules we all have to live with. Over the long run they punish the unbelieving.
One of which is, as Maggie Thatcher told us, "You soon run out of other peoples' money."
