Where is the Joy in Joy Behar?

For John, BLUF:  What is wrong with people these days, that they can not go with live and let live, but must condemn those with a different view?  Nothing to see here; just move along.

from The Blaze, by Dave Urbanski, 8 September 2021.

Here is the lede plus four:

Far-left co-host of "The View" Joy Behar on Wednesday's show implied that unvaccinated COVID-19 patients don't deserve medical help because they've "chosen to defy the science" and have "chosen to listen to the lies on Fox [News]" — all while patients with other needs can't get hospital beds.

What are the details? Former Utah Congresswoman Mia Love — a Republican — sat at "The View" table in former co-host Meghan McCain's seat and argued that it's a "slippery slope" for doctors to say they won't treat unvaccinated patients as that decision could lead to them saying they won't treat people for other illnesses.

Behar then stepped in, at first agreeing with Love that doctors denying health care to smokers and the morbidly obese could be problematic — but then she declared that such patients have developed "long-term" habits compared to the one-time decision by unvaccinated people to not get a COVID-19 shot "based on false information."

She added — as if she were speaking to unvaccinated COVID-19 patients — they should "go to [Fox News host] Tucker Carlson and make your case. Because he's telling you lies. He and other people on Fox and on some parts of Facebook are telling you lies about the vaccine."

Nothing is more fake than a person who allows herself to be bamboozeled in the name of science condemning those who question what is going on.

I would think Ms Behar's Producers would be too embarrassed by this rant to ever allow the show to appear again on air.

There are folks with legitimate reasons to question vaccines and masks.  I would defer especially to American Blacks, since a lot of living Americans were alive during the period when the Federal Government, in the name of Science, lied to Black people about what was going on during the Tuskegee "Bad Blood" experiments, which resulted in treatment being withheld from those suffering from syphilis.  The Federal Government lied to the victims of the disease in order to conduct an experiment on living human beings.

And, which group has the lowest rate4 of innoculations for COVID-19?  PhDs.

I got my vaccinations as soon as I could, and I carry a mask in case I am in a place where people wish to mask up.  It is only polite.  However, it is impolite and unAmerican to condemn others to wander outside the tribe for not getting a shot.

As a Post Script, I like Ms Mia Love.

Current Cul-de-Sac

For John, BLUF:  Former Mayor of San Francisco and former Speaker of the California Assembly Willie Brown was a mentor to our current Vice President, Ms Kamala Harris, and helped her along the political path.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

We are in a political cul-de-sac.  The 1947 Presidential Succession Act provides the rules.

Look at our current Presidential line of succession:

Biden to Harris to Pelosi to Leahy to Blinken.
It is the Anti-Tinker to Evers to Chance.

Is Vice President Kamala Harris a step up from Preaident Biden?

Would Speaker Nancy Pelosi be a step up from President Biden or Vice President Harris?

Yes, Senator Patrick Leahy would be a step up, but he is two and a half years older than the President.

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken?  He is in over his head at his Foggy Bottom job.

Our best bet is to ride it out and pray hard for the nation.

Are We Ready?

For John, BLUF:  Are we ready for major actions to limit greenhouse gas emmissions, and will it make a difference?  Nothing to see here; just move along.

From Mass Fiscal Alliance, by Mr Paul Gangi, 4 August 2021.

Here is the lede plus three:

Did you happen to catch the latest analysis of the Transportation & Climate Initiative (TCI) put out by the Fiscal Alliance Foundation?

TCI is expected to cause fuel shortages almost immediately after implantation.

According to the Foundation, Massachusetts will begin to experience fuel shortages by 2025 if it enters into the agreement as planned in 2023.  Approximately 80,000 vehicles will not have enough fuel by 2025.

To avoid TCI’s fuel shortages in 2025, Massachusetts drivers would need to buy (swap out a gasoline/diesel vehicle for an EV) approximately 2,000 EV each month beginning this month.  The problem? Approximately 2,000 Electric Vehicles (EV) were sold in Massachusetts in ALL of 2020.

Problem 1, there likely won't be enough electric vehicles to meet th need.

Problem 2, will the targetted drivers have the money to purchase an electric vehicle?

Problem 3, will private industry, utilities and governments coordinate and cooperate to provide the electric power to recharge all these new electric vehicles?

With regard to question 3, I keep asking, but all I get is the bureaucratic salute.

\_(*_*)_/

And there is this:

Senior Chinese officials warned John Kerry that U.S. support for human rights threatens climate change cooperation, eliciting a pledge from President Joe Biden’s climate point-man to explain their perspective to officials in Washington.

“I will certainly pass on … the full nature of the message that I received from Chinese leaders,” former Secretary of State John Kerry, who is now Biden’s special envoy for climate change, told reporters following two days of meetings with top Chinese diplomats. “On the one hand, we’re saying to them, ‘You have to do more to help deal with the climate.’ And on the other hand, their solar panels are being sanctioned, which makes it harder for them to sell them.”

Are things so bad regarding the climate that we are willing to turn a blind eye to the battering of human rights in other nations?  Sadly, it seems so.  And, if we won't speak up for human rights abroad, how long will they last at home?

Abortion to Rescue President Biden

For John, BLUF:  No wonder Democrats are indifferent to those Americans left behind in Afghanistan, given their lack of any interest in the unborn terminated for convenience.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

Here is the sub-headline:

"... his handling of Afghanistan following a chaotic withdrawal.  Biden’s ratings for handling the economy also have declined, from 52 percent positive in April to 45 percent in the latest survey."

From the Ann Althouse Blog, by Professor Ann Althouse, 5 September 2021.

Professor Althouse has fun with the Opinion Piece from The Washington Post, and well she should.&nbp; Aside from misquoting Scripture, Opinion Writer Kathleen Parker ("Opinion:  The Supreme Court rides to Biden’s rescue") seems to be celebrating the idea of unborn children being killed.  Abortion will pull up President Biden's poll numbers.

Here is the money paragraph:

I support abortion rights, but there's something terribly wrong about exulting over the partisan advantages to be wrung from abortion as a political issue.  Yay, for us!  Rainbows!  It's a grim matter of death and destruction.  It's in horrible taste — at the very least — to say after all the suffering in Afghanistan and from covid, the hurricane, and the fires, it's so great to get back to good old abortion, where we can stir up the old-time hysteria and rile up the voters the way we've been doing it for 50 years.
The rainbow comes from the citation of the Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse, from the Book of Revelation.

So, opposition to the Texas Fetal Heartbeat abortion law, and the US Supree Court's refusal to strike it down in its crib, will stir up the voters and return President Biden, a nominal Roman Catholic, to high poll numbers?

Commentor Gilbar notes that per polling by the Susan B. Anthony List:

The Democratic Party’s radical position of unlimited access to abortion funded by taxpayer dollars is shared by only 7% of Millennials.

Trump Leads in Polling for 2024

For John, BLUF:  As the InstaPundit says, don't get cocky.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

From Newweek, by Reporter Jack Dutton, 6 Septewmber 2021, 5:24 AM.

Here is the lede plus two:

A new poll has placed former President Donald Trump as the favorite to win the 2024 U.S. election, slightly edging Democratic incumbent Joe Biden.

A national Emerson College Poll found that if the two men were to go head-to-head in 2024, Trump would be slightly favored with 47 percent against Biden's 46 percent.

Biden has split job approval among registered voters, the poll found.  It said that around 47 percent disapprove and 46 percent approve of the work he is doing as president.  The other 7 percent were undecided.

These are the numbers today, but the half-life of a political memory is 90 days in these Uniteds States.  Sustainment of these numbers will depend, in large part, on Preaident Biden's continuing performance, and the luck of the draw.  Things could go swimmingly, or they could crash, with a new COVID varient, sustained unemployment and rising inflation.

The Return to Normalcy

For John, BLUF:  The actions of the Biden Adminitration are decreasing President Biden's poll numbers.  He is in the hole at this point.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

From The Washington Examiner, by Reporter Salena Zito, 3 September 2021, 01:40 PM.

Here is the lede plus one:

NORMALVILLE, Pennsylvania — Leading into Election Day last year, two of the biggest reasons people gave in interviews for voting for Joe Biden were to sense a return to normal and a little empathy for their struggles.

In short, they wanted their lives to reflect the bucolic scene this Fayette County town evoked after nearly a year of a deadly pandemic that had turned their lives upside down and took loved ones.  They also said they were exhausted by then-President Donald Trump’s comportment.

President Joseph Biden is not the friendly Uncle Joe we had come to expect.

Here is a further article comment:

In fact, the only thing the Biden presidency has done most effectively is prove that we are not on the path to normality under his administration.
That is not a good look, unless the plan is to end the Democratic presence in the White House in January 2025.

Days of Awe

For John, BLUF:  At Sundown today begins "'Yomim Noraim' (Days of Awe), a ten-day period that is book-ended by the High Holidays of Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur."  Nothing to see here; just move along.

From The Lid, by Mr Jeff Dunetz, 5 Sep 2021.

Here is the lede plus three:

With the setting of the sun on Monday, Jews across the world will begin the observance of the “Yomim Noraim “(Days of Awe), a ten-day period that is book-ended by the High Holidays of Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur.  This year, the High Holidays come at a key time for America as the leftist-dominated Democratic Party continues to push America away from personal responsibility and toward reliance on government and, even worse, socialism.

The High Holiday period is all about personal responsibility.  All the prayers and readings are just tools to help us look inward, formulate a personal accounting of our deeds over the past year, good and bad–all to understand what we have learned and still need to need to learn and correct.

Even the steps needed for an individual to atoning for sins go against progressive/socialist values.

Jews are taught that our Maker is not like a big massive government that will fix everything for us.  For earthly-type mistakes, we must first approach the people we harmed to request forgiveness and, if necessary, make restitution to them.  Then we must discover what led us to behave that way and correct the flaw catalyzing such behavior.  Only after those steps can we approach God for absolution.  It’s not that God cannot fix everything, but his direct involvement would destroy the delicate balance set up during creation.  In other words, the universe works best with limited government.

There is a lot of wisdom here.  As a Christian I look back on the Old Testament as a long introduction to the New, worthy of close study.  Just as I find this article of value.

As the Writer say, "May you have a happy, healthy, and sweet new year".
