The EU

Google says the EU requires a notice of cookie use (by Google) and says they have posted a notice. I don't see it. If cookies bother you, go elsewhere. If the EU bothers you, emigrate. If you live outside the EU, don't go there.

Going Green

I used to worry about the status of our electrical grid.  Would it be able to handle stress?  Now it seems the problem may be under control.  We are shutting down power plants.

How is that going to work out?

Higher prices and more brownouts.

And if the Power Commission won't let power prices go up, the power companies will shut down more of the less efficient production facilities, giving us more brown outs.

Hat tip to the instapundit.

Power providers = private enterprise. Power commission = Big Government. If there are enough brown outs, long enough, widespread enough, the power commission will get a mandate from the people to "do something" and in a blink, Big Government will take total control of power production in the US. The term "Power" is going to take on greater and greater meaning in the coming years as the role of Big Government expands exponentially.

I am less and less concerned about a conflict with China if only because governmentally, sociologically, we are becoming them.
