The EU

Google says the EU requires a notice of cookie use (by Google) and says they have posted a notice. I don't see it. If cookies bother you, go elsewhere. If the EU bothers you, emigrate. If you live outside the EU, don't go there.

Eric Lomax (RIP)

For John, BLUFHatred is dibilitating, but forgiveness is liberating.

From The New York Times "Book Section" we have the obituary of Eric Lomax, who survived imprisonment by the Japanese and forced labor on the Burma Railroad, Which spanned Thailand.  The railroad was made famous by the movie Bridge on the River Kwai.  (Based on a less than successful historical novel published in French.)  Here is the lede:

Eric Lomax, a former British soldier who was tortured by the Japanese while he was a prisoner during World War II and half a century later forgave one of his tormentors — an experience he recounted in a memoir, “The Railway Man” — died on Monday in Berwick-upon-Tweed, England. He was 93.
Rest in peace, Mr Lomax.

Regards  —  Cliff
