For John, BLUF: Bad history and bad economics, in one person. Nothing to see here; just move along.
Quoting Guido Fawkes (talking about British politics):
Jackie Walker is the senior Momentum organiser who was suspended from the Labour Party for writing that “Jews” were the “chief financiers of the sugar and slave trade” and asking “what debt do we owe the Jews?”. She’s just been let back in – a Labour spokesman says:Momentum is an organization within the British Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP). The PLP, or Labour, is what we normally think of as the "left wing" party in the British Parliament.“Following the outcome of an investigation, Jacqueline Walker is no longer suspended and remains a member of the party.”Walker received support from the Momentum leadership during her suspension. Guido is told Corbyn’s team was sympathetic to her case. There are reports of Labour supporters tearing up their membership cards in protest at her reinstatement…
As for Ms Walker's comment, "what debt do we owe the Jews?", I would say that collectively we in the West owe them a large debt for allowing six million of them to be snuffed out by a eugenics believing government in Germany, and assisted by collaborationist governments in other parts of Europe. And a United States that resisted allowing Jews to immigrate to the United States.
I have heard this kind of anti-semitism here in these United States. It is ugly and must be rebuked when it is uttered, regardless of source.
Hat tip to the blog Order Order.
