For John, BLUF: A sprint to the finish with a lot of "Trump" comparisons and concerns about the coming Apocalypse. Nothing to see here; just move along.
This is the late Sunday situation per The New York Times and Reporter Alissa J Rubin.
Here is the lede plus one:
In France’s most consequential election in recent history, voters on Sunday endorsed Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen — one a political novice, the other a far-right firebrand — both outsiders but with starkly different visions for the country, early returns and projections indicated. There you have it, Mr Emmanuel Macron and Ms Marine Le Pen.The result was a full-throated rebuke of France’s traditional mainstream parties, setting the country on an uncertain path at a critical moment when France’s election could also decide the future of the European Union. The two candidates appeared to be headed to a runoff on May 7.

Gringo, You did not provide a Likert scale. It looks a bit like a Likert, but the ringer choice, "Marine is not good for Europe" stands alone as opposed to the other choices, which offer degrees of "affection" for the candidate. Everyone, including Marine, thinks she will not be good for Europe. Amen....Juanito
Yes, I was conflicted between the five-option Likert scale and being a wise-acre. I guess the second won.

The "media" polls are pulling hard for the rank amateur claiming at least a 30 point lead over Le Pen. And yet, who knows? Le Pen IS not good for Europe but along with the UK, could easily change the entire landscape of the socio-economic scene of Europe. Vive Le Pen!!!! BTW, as you know Cliff, polls written in this fashion are wildly inaccurate. Ask the Democrats.

In France, on Election Day (Sunday Lat) the Harris poll was amazingly accurate. But this poll, not so much.
But, the NYT does not like Marine Le Pen.

A Friend of Mine Tried to Comment and it Didn't Take:
My vote was "Le Pen is bad for Europe", but I thought the poll was unnecessarily narrow. The overall tone, to me, was that "France is ruining Europe", and bemoaning its rejection of the "established political order". It clearly gave Le Pen the deeper hatchet job, (deriding her chances while piling on with a perfectly awful quote from Cazeneuve), but they didn't pull all their punches on "Rothschild Banker" Macron, either. Like I said, mostly it read like a giant whinge about the perversity of the French electorate.
