A Hearty Thanks to the French

This is the 228th anniversary of Cornwallis' surrender at Yorktown.

Buy a French person a drink.

I will buy a Frenchman a drink if I can find one; failing that, I will buy French wine.

Don't mean to sound like a tough guy, so I'll just say I'll happily await the (verbal) joust coming with anyone who tries to say that one *shouldn't* do that.

They can be annoying, or at least the Parisians and the professional civil service, but they were there when we needed them and the Brits were on the other side.

Fortunately, we worked it out with the Brits, after another war.
