Now we have an article on a speech by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, claiming that for the last 400 years it has been a Zionist conspiracy running the world.♠ Granted, the source is The Jerusalem Post, but still, it is consistent with the Iranian President's apparent world view. The report states:
Speaking to ambassadors from Islamic countries ahead of 'Qods Day' ('Jerusalem Day'), an annual Iranian anti-Zionist event established in 1979 by Ayatollah Khomeini and which falls this year on August 17, Ahmadinejad said that a "horrible Zionist current" had been managing world affairs for "about 400 years."In this post I have buried the lede, which is here:
In a speech published on his website Thursday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the ultimate goal of world forces must be the annihilation of Israel.Maybe it isn't the elimination of Israel, but rather the liberation of Palestine.
Ahmadinejad added that "liberating Palestine" would solve all the world's problems, although he did not elaborate on exactly how that might work.I wonder how those who said Governor Romney was wrong when he brought up culture with regard to Palestine lagging behind would feel about the Iranian President's comments.
This would all be humorous, except that Iran and Saudi Arabia are in a big proxy fight in Syria, and people are dying, on both sides. The Saudis are supporting the rebels and Iran is supporting the Syrian President, Bashar Hafez al-Assad.

♠ Of course, 400 years ago Muslim sailors from the North African Littoral were sailing to fishing grounds off the east coast of what is now New England and Canada, kidnapping fishermen and enslaving them.
