The EU

Google says the EU requires a notice of cookie use (by Google) and says they have posted a notice. I don't see it. If cookies bother you, go elsewhere. If the EU bothers you, emigrate. If you live outside the EU, don't go there.

Sixty-Five Years Ago

For John, BLUFI thought it was a great series when I lived in the UK.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

I am a little tardy in this, but the first pilot of The Archers, was broadcast on May 29th, 1950, by The BBC's Midlands Home Service.  This was the first of five pilot episodes of a new, experimental drama series.  The producer, Mr Godfrey Baseley, had previously worked mainly on agricultural programmes.  He hoped that farmers would listen for the stories, but along the way pick up messages that would help them feed a Britain still subject to food rationing.

Here is more detail.

Reminding one a little of Lowell, in the village of Ambridge the Archer Family own and operate Brookfield Farm, sort of like Tom Wirtanen and Brookside Garden, but on a larger scale.
