Storms Kill Over 250 Americans In States Represented By Climate Pollution Deniers.I wonder if the folks over at Think Progress believe, as say the Rev Pat Robertson might believe, that these tornadoes are an act of an involved and caring God, trying to chasten His children?
I sure am glad I didn't say something like that.

I thought the Supreme Being was primarily concerned with punishing those who don't punish homosexuals enough? (Or was that his followers?)
Human predilection to attribute intent to even natural phenomena is an amazing thing. If only it were convertible into energy, we wouldn't need oil OR nuclear power.
I wouldn't put it past God, but this just doesn't seem like something He would do, IMHO. I see Him into more "small bore" projects, working at the individual level.
But, you are correct. We tend to attribute a lot of things to God, even when we are not believers.

Yes, and as charged, for many, the new God is Gaia. People believe in The Environment without really knowing why today. The Environment is a vengeful god, willing to smite us for our Wal-Marts and Explorers. It does a serious disservice to environmental causes when every time weather occurs, it's blamed on Climate Change. Sometimes, maybe it is. Often, it's caused by more people living in places where nobody lived before, or better reporting, or selective memory.
Repeate after me: Weather is what's outside your window, Climate is long-term trends.
God forbid these states accept any relief aid from Comrade Obama. Governors should take care to not incite the "Wrath of the Tea Party."
I mention this the other week on Mr. Lynne's facebook page, most of us will suffer in death God must hate most us then. Right?
Modern society reminds me vividly of a large herd of turkeys. When I was a young child, I spent much of my time on my uncle's turkey farm. He raised thousands of them at a time. And it always intrigued me that if one stood next to or even in the middle of the pack.....and made a noise...almost any kind of noise....they would gobble loudly and ruffle their feathers. How like people in particularly American society today. We need little more than someone to make a gobble sound....and then EVERYONE gobbles....until a different sound comes up. We are an excitable people, given to mythology to explain stuff we really truly have no factual clue about....particularly when it comes to anything human or physical...like weather...or earthquakes, or the effects of the moon. Oh....and politics.
But it sure gives everyone a chance to gobble......and that is good I suppose.
