For John, BLUF: The pendulum swings and now union power is being challenged in the Rust Belt. Nothing to see here; just move along.
It appears that "Right to Work" legislation is making a comeback. In Michigan.
Don't get me wrong. I support unions. They are a needed counterbalance to big business. However, I wonder if local elected officials are an effective counterbalance to public sector unions. As the long term cost of government pensions♠ comes to the surface we might all have some concerns.

♠ Yes, I do receive a "public pension", in the form of military retired pay.

A small correction.....those members who have left active duty and "retired" do not draw "retired pay." They are members of the "inactive reserve" and are subject to the UCMJ....and their pay is in its legal essence, reserve pay.
This is something that Americans get wrong all the time when they accuse the "retired" military as being entitlement whores. It is NOT and entitlement....it is a wage.....and the only way that you can achieve the right to that wage is via serving a career in the military.
If we had a general mobilization in a time of war, you would see the inactive reserve called up.
The problem is that we begin with a misunderstanding of what military "retired" pay is, and then overlay that misunderstanding with a bunch of other entitlement programs that have come into being since pre-WWII.......and so now....military "retirement pay" is a mish-mash of salary and entitlements that are lumped into one single payment.
But....no fear.....those free loading retired military personnel will get theirs when the cliff is behind us....and the Federal government goes after that pay as a bill payer. The military has always been the first to pay with our lives in the name of freedom....and our livelihoods in the name of economy.
Neal, did they issue you a pedestal to stand on in AF boot camp?
The reason why vets get the time of day, is to ensure young Americans follow in our steps.
Take what you're given and please quit whining, you self involved diva.
Typical liberal thinking. You offer baseless supposition....I offer the rule of law.
I do take what I am given largely because I damn well earned every penny of it, so your admonishment about whining is as valid as most of the rest of your puffed up rhetoric. As for being self involved, I guess you would know about self involvement more than anyone since you consider that all you utter is ground truth while the rest of us mere mortals are just blithering idiots. YOU are the diva.....but one with an acute and generalized hatefulness.
I pity you.
