For John, BLUF: The Benghazi Imbroglio has so upset the Administration's equilibrium that they have lost their shame. Nothing to see here; just move along.
Law Professor and Blogger Ann Althouse asks "Why is it "inhumane" and "idiotic" to question the veracity of the claims that have been made about Hillary Clinton's various medical conditions?"
To refresh memories, four Americans (and ten supporting Libyans) died in Benghazi on 11 September of this last year. One of the Americans was our Ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens. Then the Department of State tried to trash the First Amendment Rights of an American Citizen (Innocence of Muslims). On top of that we were told that four State officials either resigned or were fired, but it turns out all four are still employed by DOS. In sum, things went terribly wrong in Benghazi on 11 September and the cover story was terrible and the follow-up action left a lot to be desired.
So why wouldn't there be questions? Why would the Administration not expect skepticism as this sad tale continues to unfold? Why would Mr Philippe Reines, Secretary Clinton's Senior Advisor, not expect hard questioning and conspiracy theories? Who does he think he is: Captain Louis Renault?
“She would have vastly preferred to testify that original date than go through the last 27 days,” said her senior adviser, Philippe Reines. “Only an imbecile would say otherwise,” he added, referring to charges by conservatives that Mrs. Clinton faked her illness to avoid the Congressional questioning.Professor Althouse comments:
Only an imbecile! Okay, if that's they way we are going to talk, I'll just say Reines is a.... oh, being a civil woman, I can't say it.Thank God. We needn't go down that path.
Regards — Cliff
