The EU

Google says the EU requires a notice of cookie use (by Google) and says they have posted a notice. I don't see it. If cookies bother you, go elsewhere. If the EU bothers you, emigrate. If you live outside the EU, don't go there.

The Future of GPS

While I guess one's cell phone, if there is cell coverage, could provide navigation coverage, it is still the world of the GPS—the Global Positioning System.  There is a lot wrong with GPS, at least from a military point of view, but from a civilian point of view there is a lot right.  As civilians we got a crack at GPS after the Soviet Union shot down KAL Flight 007, back in 1983.

Now comes Mr Loren B. Thompson, Ph.D., with a piece on the future of GPS.

In another forum someone commented:
GPS illustrates the classic dilemma of a public good:  the Air Force has to budget for a very expensive satellite constellation that benefits the everyone—the Services, the U.S. government, you and me, and the world.

Seems to me the Air Force shouldn't have to choose between GPS and Next Generation Bomber.  We need both.
This from someone affiliated with the US Navy.

Is GPS not a public good?
