Being somewhat lazy, I have not gotten up to change the channel on the TV, after watching "City Life". On "Democracy Now" the newsreader talked about the Pentagon ending its Don't Ask, Dn't Tell policy. Is the newsreader (Ms Amy Goodman) so ignorant, or the person preparing her copy so ignorant, as to not realize that it was a policy imposed by the US Congress, and ended by the US Congress? Once more the US Congress skates away from being responsible for its actions.
Another interesting point about this transition is that the US Marine Corps is apparently the most aggressive of the Services in terms of moving out to recruit homosexual and bisexual members. For the Marines every mission is to be executed with élan. Law Professor Ann Althouse blogs on this, here.

The whole "Billy Bad Ass" routine ya get from tha Jarheads always seemed a bit gay to me. Maybe that is why they are so sensitive about it.
Along these lines (not graphic)
NEWSFLASH!!! People who enjoy sex to a different drummer....or any drummer.....have been in the military since it's inception in the US. In any given unit, everyone knows who the "different ones" are....and generally speaking..that is the end of the discussion. Periodically, the perfumed princes have gone on witch hunts and managed to eliminate a handful of "offenders." I've always wondered if the initiator of such actions might well be doing so out of some self hatred kind of thing. Thou protestest too loudly...and all that sort of thing.
Under fire.....I really could not possibly care less about what the guy next to me does with his gun for fun...I just want him to be very proficient with his weapon.
Women, gays, blacks, browns, reds, and on and on are little more than political props du jour. Just as soon as we can find another group to first vilify and then "save" through legislation, the whole DADT thing will be hardly memorable history. Come to think of it....that group is already evident.....the Tea Party.
