OPEN FORUM WITH LOWELL'S DATA ANALYST

A FREE event.  At the Pollard Memorial Library.  Wednesday evening.

Here is a Press Release from that "notorious" Political Action Committee, Move Lowell Forward (MLF):
Lowell, MA – The local political action committee, Move Lowell Forward, is hosting a forum with Michael Herbert, data analyst for the City of Lowell.  Mr. Herbert is responsible for the LowellStat program, which is an implementation of CitiStat, a data collection and monitoring package designed to help municipalities deliver services more efficiently and track responses to inquiries and problems.

The forum will be on Wednesday, August 17 starting at 7pm.  Light refreshments will be served, and the event is open and free to the public.

Mr. Herbert will be talking about his role in city government, what CitiStat is, and how Lowell in particular has deployed the system.  He'll talk about the findings of the program so far, how it's been used to help your local government make decisions, and about the future of LowellStat.  He'll also take questions from the audience.  A video will be available after the event on movelowellforward.com and on LTC cable access.

This is a second in a series of open forums organized this year by Move Lowell Forward PAC.  The first, in February, hosted Adam Baacke, Assistant City Manager of Planning and Development.

Remember, data (the facts and figures of government) should be driving the decisions our City Council, our City Manager and other managers in City Government, and we the voters should be taking.  It is how you know that you are spending too much time and effort on this and not enough time and effort on that.  Since our resources are limited—and they are always limited—having the facts just makes good sense and for good government.

Come join us.

Regards  —  Cliff
