We were talking on the Internet about obtaining security clearances, which slipped into talking about TSA, when a reflective practitioner sent along this observation:
A bureaucracy does what it does. When that doesn't work, it does more of it.For those who are thinking I am picking on Government, I have seen it also in the private sector. It brings to mind that old Navy expression, taught to me by my Father:

In either the TV Series Men of Annapolis or The West Point Story, the underclassman is being hazed into submission by having to recite the Articles of War while in a brace at meal time while the upperclassmen proceed to eat. By the time he gets to the fifth article of war they have finished eating and left and he sits down and proclaims that the Fifth Article of War is "if it doesn't fit, don't force it ..."
So THAT is where Johnny Cochrane got "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit."
The problem is that with government, they can force whatever they want by the use of force under the rule of law. Not so much private businesses. We are about to witness that in full bloom in our government.
